20일 의성군(군수 김주수)에 따르면 스킵 이재범, 서드 김효준, 세컨 표정민, 리드 김은빈, 핍스 김진훈, 지도자 이동건으로 팀을 이룬 의성군청 남자 컬링팀은 9월 10일부터 12일까지 치러진 경기에서 예선 1승 1패로 결선에 진출하여 1차전에서 관동대를 6 : 2로, 2차전에서 관동대를 7 : 2로 승리하여 컬링 대표로 선발돼 2025 토리노동계세계대학경기대회 참가 자격이 주어졌다.

의성군청 남자 컬링팀 선수들은“8월 일본 해외 전지훈련이 이번 경기 운영에 많은 도움이 되었고 이러한 기회를 주신 의성군청 김주수 군수님께 감사드리며 내년에 있을 토리노동계세계대학경기대회 및 하얼빈동계아시안게임를 잘 준비하여 좋은 성적을 낼 수 있도록 최선을 다하겠다.”라고 말했다.
