27일 군에 따르면 서의성농협은 지난 2016년 미국, 캐나다에 처음으로 수출한 이후매년 안정적으로 수출하고 있으며, 올해는 가바 쌀, 우렁이 쌀 등 총 13회에 걸쳐 139톤의 수출실적을 달성하였다.

의성군에서는 친환경 안전 먹거리를 원하는 유통시장에서 농약사용을 줄이고 토양 환경을 보존시키며, 실질적인 도움이 되는 우렁이 농법을 적극 권장하고 있으며, 올해 600ha 새끼우렁이 18톤을 공급했다.

김주수 의성군수는“친환경 쌀 수출은 의성 쌀의 우수성을 인정받은 결과”라면서“앞으로도 해외시장 개척과 수출 여건 마련 등 다양한 지원사업을 추진하여 수출경쟁력을 강화하는 데 힘을 쏟겠다.”고 말했다.
