영천시에 따르면 이날 최 시장은 영천댐 상류 농어촌마을 하수도 정비사업, 영천 광역복합환승센터 건립 등 주민의 삶에 직접적 영향을 끼치는 생활 인프라 사업을 건의했다.

특히 영천댐 상류 농어촌마을 하수도 정비사업은 영천시뿐 아니라 인접한 포항, 경주의 상수원으로 활용되는 영천댐의 상류마을 하수정비를 위한 사업으로 깨끗한 물 공급을 위해 꼭 필요한 사업임을 강조하며, 주민들의 오랜 숙원사업의 조속한 준공을 위해 내년도 150억원의 국비 반영을 요청했다.

영천광역복합환승센터 건립사업은 경영악화로 지난해 폐업한 영천버스터미널을 대체하기 위한 사업으로, 복합환승센터의 경북 최초 모델로 알려져 있다. 철도와 버스를 연계한 광역 교통망 구축 사업의 시행을 위해 국가 차원의 관심과 신규사업 반영을 건의했다.

최기문 영천시장은 “대규모 인프라 조성 사업은 국가의 지원이 절실하다”며 “정부와 국회가 지역 발전을 견인할 기반시설 지원에 지속적 관심을 가지도록 공조 관계를 강화할 계획”이라고 밝혔다.
