15일 대구경실련은 “대구시의회가 구성하고 있는 특별위원회는 활동 실적이 부진하다”며 “기타 특별위원회 구성, 활동은 생색내기용, 자리 늘리기용”이라고 비판했다.

특히 지난 9월 구성된 대구경북행정통합특별위원회에 대한 회의적인 입장을 드러냈다. 이들은 “제9대 대구시의회와 민선8기 대구시의 관계, 기타 특별위원회의 활동 관행, 통합 논의 과정에서의 대구시의회의 미미한 존재감 등을 감안하면 행정통합특위가 통합 논의의 ‘중추적 역할’을 할 가능성은 매우 희박하다”고 꼬집었다.  

그러면서 “특별위원회가 다루는 사안은 지역사회에서 찬반이 엇갈리고 다양한 가치관과 이해관계가 충돌하는 사안으로 적극적인 소통과 검증이 필요하지만 대구시는 검증과 비판을 거부하고 일방적으로 강행하는 일이 되풀이되고 있다”며 “이는 감시와 견제를 포기한 대구시의회의 책임이기도 하다”고 질타했다.

대구경실련은 “행정통합특위가 다시 재개되는 대구경북행정통합 논의에서는 배제되었던 시민 참여를 활성화하고 시민이 주도적 역할을 할 수 있도록 하는 중추적 역할을 수행하길 기대한다고 강조했다.
