21일 영덕군에 따르면 이날 참여자들은 스쿠버 장비와 크레인을 동원해 수중 폐어망과 폐타이어 등의 해양쓰레기를 집중 수거하는 등 청정 바다를 지키기 위해 구슬땀을 흘렸다.

이 밖에도 지역사회가 기부한 옷들을 엄선해 외국인 선원과 나누는 행사와 해양자원 보호를 위해 문치가자미를 방류하는 행사 등의 다채로운 사회공헌 활동으로 함께 펼치는 뜻깊은 시간을 가졌다.

연합회 김도수 회장은 “지속 가능한 청정 바다와 자원을 위해 회원들과 매년 의욕적으로 정화 활동을 꾸준히 시행하고 있다”며, “참여해 주신 수산업 경영인들과 원활한 행사 진행을 위해 도움을 주신 영덕군과 경상북도에 감사드린다”고 전했다.

문성준 영덕부군수는 “행사가 거듭되면서 참여하신 한국수산업경영인 회원들은 물론 인근 주민들께서도 해양 환경을 위해 많은 관심과 응원을 보내시고 있다”며, “자발적으로 주체적인 이러한 해양 정화활동이 전국적으로 확대돼 우리의 바다를 지키고 개선하는 작은 불씨가 되길 희망한다”고 격려했다.
