이날 영천시에 따르면 ‘고향사랑기부 인증 챌린지’는 한병도 국회의원이 시작한 기부 릴레이로서, 국회의원 또는 자치단체장이 기부 참여를 인증한 후 다음 주자를 지명하며 기부를 이어가는 방식으로 진행되고 있다.

최기문 영천시장은 지난달 이동환 고양특례시장의 지명을 받아 고향사랑기부 인증 챌린지에 참여하게 됐으며, 다음 주자로 윤석준 대구광역시 동구청장을 지명했다.

최기문 시장은 “애향심을 고취시키고 기부문화를 활성화하는 고향사랑기부제는 기부를 넘어, 답례품으로 우리 지역의 특색있는 상품을 전달하고 홍보 할 수 있는 좋은 기회”라며 “자매결연도시인 대구광역시 동구를 포함한 많은 지자체가 참여하기를 기대한다”고 말했다.

한편, 고향사랑기부제는 개인이 자신의 주소지 이외의 지자체에 연간 500만원 이하의 금액을 기부하면 세액공제와 함께 기부액의 30% 범위에서 지역특산품을 답례품으로 받을 수 있는 제도이다.
