이번 대회는 지난 9월 3일부터 10월 3일까지 예선전이 동락, 양포, 구미, 선산, 해평, 도개 6개 구장에서 매주 화요일과 목요일에 걸쳐 치러졌으며, 전국 16개 시·도에서 총 2,100명의 선수가 참가했다.

치열한 예선전을 통과한 630여 명의 결승 진출자는 전국 최초 제1호 공인구장인 동락파크골프장에서 최종 우승을 놓고 겨루게 된다.

대회는 파격적인 상금으로도 이목을 끌고 있다. MVP에게는 3,000만 원의 상금이, 1위와 2위에게 각각 500만 원과 300만 원이 지급되며, 10위까지 상금이 수여된다. 또한 모든 참가자에게 구미사랑상품권 1만 원이 제공되어 지역 경제 활성화에도 기여할 것으로 전망된다.
