【브레이크뉴스 영덕】박영재 기자=영덕군은 남정면의 양성리와 장사리가 환경부 추진 ‘2024년 하수도정비 중점관리지역’으로 지정돼 침수 대응 사업비 254억 원을 확보했다고 4일 밝혔다.

영덕군에 따르면 남정면 양성리는 분지 형태로 집중호우가 오면 하수처리장으로 처리 용량 이상의 하수가 유입돼 침수가 발생하는 경우가 있었고, 장사리는 지역 일부가 해안선과 차이가 거의 없는 저지대인 지리적 입지로 인해 잦은 침수가 발생해 왔었다.

이에 영덕군 물관리사업소는 중앙부처에 침수 방지 사업의 필요성과 당위성을 꾸준히 건의해 왔고, 중점관리지역 지정을 위한 현장 실사와 선정위원회 심사 등에 노력을 기울인 결과 지난달 30일을 기해 하수도정비 중점관리지역으로 최종 선정되는 성과를 거뒀다.

영덕군은 이번 하수도정비 중점관리지역 지정을 통해 2025년부터 총사업비 254억 원(국비 152억, 지방비 102억)을 순차적으로 투입해 해당 지역에 관로와 빗물펌프장을 설치해 침수 피해에 해소하는 사업을 신속하게 추진한다는 방침이다.

김광열 영덕군수는 “남정면 양성리와 장사리는 침수 예방 사업이 절실한 지역이기에 이번 성과가 더욱 반갑게 다가온다”며, “이번 국비 확보를 통해 자연재해로부터 군민들의 재산과 안전을 지킬 수 있도록 온 힘을 다해 사업을 추진하고 관리해 나가겠다”고 밝혔다.

Yeongdeok-gun announced on the 4th that Yangseong-ri and Jangsa-ri in Namjeong-myeon were designated as '2024 Sewerage Maintenance Key Management Areas' promoted by the Ministry of Environment, and secured 25.4 billion won for flood response projects.

According to Yeongdeok-gun, Yangseong-ri in Namjeong-myeon was in a basin shape, and when heavy rain came, sewage exceeding the treatment capacity flowed into the sewage treatment plant, causing flooding. Jangsa-ri was a low-lying area with little difference from the coastline, so it had frequent flooding.

In response, Yeongdeok-gun Water Management Office has been consistently suggesting the necessity and legitimacy of flood prevention projects to the central government, and as a result of efforts such as on-site inspections and selection committee reviews for designation of key management areas, it was finally selected as a key management area for sewage maintenance on the 30th of last month.

Yeongdeok-gun plans to swiftly promote the project to resolve flood damage by sequentially investing a total project cost of 25.4 billion won (15.2 billion won from the national budget and 10.2 billion won from the local budget) starting in 2025 through the designation of this priority management area for sewerage management, by installing pipelines and rainwater pumping stations in the area.

Yeongdeok-gun Governor Kim Gwang-yeol said, “Yeongseong-ri and Jangsa-ri in Namjeong-myeon are areas in dire need of flood prevention projects, so this result is even more welcome,” and added, “With this national budget secured, we will do our best to promote and manage the project so that we can protect the property and safety of the county residents from natural disasters.”
