【브레이크뉴스 영덕】박영재 기자=영덕군은 오는 13일 영덕로하스수산식품센터 강당에서 수산가공 분야 외국인 계절근로자 프로그램의 원활한 진행을 위해 고용주와 외국인 계절근로자를 대상으로 입국 교육을 실시한다고 12일 밝혔다.

외국인 계절근로자 프로그램은 어업의 특성상 계절적으로 나타나는 일손 부족을 해결하기 위해 외국인의 고용 기간을 기존 5개월에서 3개월까지 연장해 최대 8개월간 합법적으로 근로할 수 있는 제도로, 고령화와 인력난으로 어려움을 겪고 있는 고용주에게 큰 도움이 된다.

올해 영덕군은 영덕군가족센터의 협조로 관내 결혼이주민 본국의 4촌 이내 총 70명의 외국인 계절근로자를 초청해 마약 검사, 산재보험 등의 절차를 거친 후 외국인 등록을 마치게 되며, 관내 오징어와 가자미 수산 가공업체 23개소에 배치할 예정이다.

이번 입국 교육은 업체 고용주, 외국인 계절근로자, 다문화 가족 등 약 100명이 참석해 적정한 주거 환경제공, 최저임금, 근로 시간, 외국인 불법체류 발생 방지를 위한 관리 및 인권 보호 등 고용주와 근로자가 준수해야 할 사항을 교육하게 된다.

김광열 영덕군수는 “근로자의 권리를 보호하고 고용주와 근로자들이 상호 존중을 바탕으로 상생하기 위해 이번 교육을 마련했다”며, “매년 적기에 외국인 계절근로자들이 입국해 안정적인 어가경영이 이뤄질 수 있도록 외국인 계절근로자 프로그램을 체계적으로 운영하겠다”고 전했다.
