【브레이크뉴스 구미】진예솔 기자=국립금오공과대학교와 영남대학교가 ‘반도체특성화대학사업단’을 공식 출범했다고 20일 밝혔다.

지난 19일 경북 구미 호텔금오산 컨벤션센터에서 ‘반도체특성화대학사업단’ 출범식이 열렸다.

국립금오공대 반도체특성화대학사업단과 영남대 반도체특성화대학사업단이 공동 운영하는 반도체특성화사업단은 지자체, 반도체특화단지추진단 등 유관기관과의 긴밀한 협력을 바탕으로 반도체 산업 분야의 실무형 인재 교육을 통해 지역 인력 수요에 대응하는 혁신 인재 양성을 목표로 하고 있다.

이날 행사에서는 경북․구미반도체특화단지추진단(단장 이현권)의 반도체특화단지 현황 및 방향 발표와 양 대학 반도체특성화사업단장의 사업 설명 및 향후 계획 소개, 그리고 반도체 기업과의 미래 발전 방향 모색을 위한 간담회 등이 진행됐다.

곽호상 국립금오공과대학교 총장은 “반도체특성화대학사업단의 출범식을 통해 대한민국 반도체 산업의 성장을 이끌 우수한 인재 양성이 본격적으로 추진될 것으로 기대한다”며 “대학과 기업, 지자체의 산학협력을 기반으로 국립금오공대는 반도체 소재·부품·장비 분야에서, 영남대는 소자 분야에서의 강점을 발휘하며 서로 협력하여 세계 수준의 반도체 교육 거점을 구축해 나가겠다”고 말했다.

금오공대는 지난 7월 교육부와 한국산업기술진흥원에서 추진하는 ‘2024년 반도체특성화대학지원사업’에서 영남대와 함께 대경강원권 동반성장형 유형에 선정됐다. 양 대학은 산학일체형 소재·부품 HR-VC(Human Resource Value Chain; 인력양성 생태계) 구축을 비전으로, 국립금오공대 5개 학부(과)와 영남대 8개 학부(과)가 참여하는 SSU반도체융합전공을 신설해 반도체 특성화 전문인력을 양성할 계획이다.

At the event, the Gyeongbuk-Gumi Semiconductor Specialization Complex Promotion Group (Director Lee Hyeon-gwon) announced the current status and direction of the semiconductor specialization complex, explained the business and introduced future plans by the heads of the semiconductor specialization businesses of both universities, and held a discussion meeting to explore future development directions with semiconductor companies.

Kwak Ho-sang, president of Kumoh National Institute of Technology, said, “Through the launch ceremony of the Semiconductor Specialization University Business Group, we expect to fully promote the cultivation of excellent talents who will lead the growth of the semiconductor industry in Korea.” He added, “Based on industry-academia cooperation between universities, companies, and local governments, Kumoh National Institute of Technology will demonstrate its strengths in the semiconductor materials, components, and equipment fields, while Yeungnam University will demonstrate its strengths in the components field, and we will work together to build a world-class semiconductor education base.” In July, Kumoh National Institute of Technology was selected as a joint growth type for the Daegyeong-Gangwon area along with Yeungnam University in the ‘2024 Semiconductor Specialization University Support Project’ promoted by the Ministry of Education and the Korea Institute for Advancement of Technology. With the vision of establishing an industry-academia-integrated materials and components HR-VC (Human Resource Value Chain; human resource development ecosystem), the two universities plan to establish the SSU Semiconductor Convergence Major, in which five departments of Kumoh National Institute of Technology and eight departments of Yeungnam University participate, to cultivate semiconductor-specialized professionals.
