울진군에 따르면 매경미디어그룹이 주최하는 2024 한국 경제를 빛낸 인물&경영’은 현재에 안주하지 않고 끊임없는 변화와 혁신으로 성과를 창출해 해당 분야애서 우수한 성과를 낸 인물을 선정하여 매년 시상을 하고 있다.

손병복 울진군수는 울진 원자력수소 국가산단 유치를 통해 지방소멸 위기 속 지역의 미래 성장동력을 마련하고 더불어 국가 경쟁력을 높일 수있는 기반을 마련한 공로를 인정받아 수상하게 되었다.

특히, 기존의 ‘수소 실증단지 조성’ 사업의 추진 방향을 원자력 수소 국가산업단지로 전략적으로 수정하고, 수소 관련 기업들과 MOU를 맺는 등 적극적인 유치 활동을 통해 후보지 선정에 이어 예비타당성 검토 면제까지 이르게 한 노력이 높은 평가를 받았다.

또한 신한울 3,4호기 건설 재개를 통해 지역경제 활성화를 위한 실질적인 효과를 끌어내기 위한 적극적인 행보도 인정을 받았다.

손병복 울진군수는 지역주민 우선 고용과 지역업체 및 장비 등의 공사 참여 기회 확대를 위해 신한울 3,4호기 건설 사업시행자, 주 설비 시공사 등과 협약을 맺고 지역 상생의 기반을 마련했다.
