【브레이크뉴스 대구】진예솔 기자=국민의힘 정희용 의원(경북 고령군․성주군․칠곡군)이 경북대학교 정치외교학과가 주관한 특강에 강연자로 참석했다고 28일 밝혔다.

지난 27일 정희용 의원은 ‘2024년도 기초학문 특성화를 위한 정치외교학과 콜로키움’에서 ‘대한민국 대의 민주주의가 가야할 길’이라는 주제로 특강에 나섰다.

이날 정 의원은 “양극화된 대한민국 정치에 대한 배경에 ‘팬덤 정치’가 자리 잡고 있다”며 “여소야대 상황에서 강성 지지자들의 목소리가 세게 반영되는 ‘팬덤 정치’로 여야가 대화하고 협치하는 것이 더욱 어려워졌다”고 말했다.

그러면서 “신용평가기관인 피치가 2023년 미국의 국가신용등급을 한 단계로 하향 조정했다”며 “정치 양극화가 국가의 경제 상황과 투자 환경의 위험 수준을 나타내는 국가신용등급까지 떨어뜨릴 수 있는 문제”라고 지적했다.

또한 “정치란 양보와 타협의 결과물”이라며 “정치적 양극화를 벗어나 경제적·사회적 양극화를 해소하고 사회통합에 앞장섬으로써 지속가능한 대의 민주주의로 나아가야 한다”고 말했다.

경북대학교 정치외교학과를 졸업한 정희용 의원은 후배들에게 “그날의 날씨가 아니라 시대의 기후를 읽는 정치학도가 되길바란다”며 “포기하지 말고 도전하라는 말을 꼭 해주고 싶다”는 말로 특강을 마무리했다.

Assemblyman Jeong Hee-yong, who graduated from the Department of Political Science and Diplomacy at Kyungpook National University, concluded his special lecture by saying to his juniors, “I hope you become political scientists who read the climate of the times, not the weather of the day,” and “I want to tell you not to give up and to keep challenging yourself.”
