12일 울진군에 따르면 발생지는 울진군 후포면 금음리 산217번지(사유림)로 10월 10일울진군 산림병해충예찰방제단이 예찰 활동 중 소나무 고사목을 발견해 경상북도산림환경연구원, 국립산림과학원에 검경 의뢰한 결과 소나무 2본이재선충병에 감염된 것으로 확진 판정을 받았고, 12월에 후포면 금음리 산227번지(사유림)에서 추가로 2본이 확진되면서 전체 4본의 감염목이 확진되었다.

이에, 울진군에서는 산림청, 국립산림과학원, 경상북도, 임업진흥원, 인근 지자체 등 관계기관과 방제 전략을 논의하고 재선충병 발생원인 규명을 위해 긴급방제대책 회의를 개최하였으며, 추가 확산을 예방하기위한 사업비를 확보하여 2025년 2월까지 긴급방제사업을 완료할 예정이다.

주요 사업내용은 감염목 제거(4본), 합제나무주사(2.23ha), 예방나무주사(463ha) 사업으로 감염목을 중심으로 확산 방지를 위한 맞춤형 전략을수립하여 사업을 추진할 계획이다.

소나무재선충병은 솔수염하늘소의 성충이 소나무를 가해할 때 침입하는재선충에 의해 소나무가 말라 죽는 병으로 감염된 소나무는 100% 고사하게 되며, 울진군에서는 2020년 12월 온정면 덕인리에서 1본이 최초 감염되었다가 최근 청정지역으로 환원되었다.

손병복 울진군수는“소나무재선충병의 신규 발생지는 발생 초기 철저한예찰이 가장 중요하다”라며, “신속한 방제와 전략 수립을 통해 추가 확산을 예방하고 울진금강송을 지키기 위해 최선의 노력을 다하겠다”라고 말했다.
