12일 오전 윤석열 대통령은 대국민담화를 통해 “하루가 멀다 하고 다수의 힘으로 입법 폭거를 일삼고 오로지 방탄에만 혈안 되어 있는 거대 야당의 의회 독재에 맞서, 대한민국의 자유민주주의와 헌정 질서를 지키려 했던 것”이라는 입장을 밝혔다.

이에 대해 우리공화당 조원진 대표는 “오늘의 담화에 대해 동의하고 이해하며, 국민들을 혼돈에 빠뜨리고 계엄정국이 탄핵정국으로 된 것에 대한 윤 대통령의 사과가 진심이기를 바란다”고 말했다.

그는 “준비되지 않은 비상계엄이 실패로 끝났어도 이는 헌법에 보장된 대통령의 ‘고도의 정치행위’이지 내란은 아니다”고 설명했다.

또한 국민의힘 한동훈 대표가 윤 대통령에 대한 즉각 직무정지 필요성을 언급한 것에 대해 “대한민국의 자유민주주의체제와 자유우파 국민에 대한 배신행위이자, 범죄자 이재명의 대선가도를 열어주고 정권을 좌파사회주의자에게 내어주는 역적행위이며 보수 붕괴의 반역행위”라고 비판했다.

아울러 그는 “국민의힘에 있는 정의로운 국회의원들이 한동훈을 당대표에서 축출하고, 자유보수우파세력과의 대통합으로 범보수단일후보를 추대하여 이재명의 좌파사회주의 정권을 막아야 한다”며 “그 첫 번째 과제가 한동훈의 축출이다”고 덧붙였다.
