【브레이크뉴스 영천】이성현 기자=영천시(시장 최기문)는 23일 안동에서 개최된 ‘2024년 경상북도 일자리창출 추진실적 시군 평가’에서 최우수상을 수상하며, 5년 연속 고용창출 우수 지방자치단체로 선정됐다고 밝혔다.

이번 일자리창출 평가는 도내 22개 시군을 대상으로 △고용지표 △일자리창출 계획 △추진의지와 협업체계 △목표달성 및 우수사례 등 일자리 정책 전반과 효과 등을 종합적으로 평가해 우수 시군을 선정했다.

영천시는 올 한해 경기 침체, 급격한 인구 구조 변화와 산업 전환기 속에서도 안정적인 고용사회 기반을 다지기 위한 적극적인 일자리 창출 정책을 추진해 ‘24년 목표 대비 103%인 17,000여 개의 일자리를 만들었고(10월 기준), 상반기 통계청 조사에서도 고용률 67.9%로 도내 시부 1위의 고용 성적을 거둬 일자리가 풍부한 지역활력이 높게 평가받았다.

일자리의 질을 제고하기 위한 노력도 강력하게 추진해 우량기업 투자유치, 신성장산업 육성으로 산업경쟁력 제고와 함께 노동시장 활성화를 이끌었다. 시 개청 이래 최대 금액인 3조 5천여억원의 투자유치와 500여 명 민간 일자리를 창출했고, 주력산업인 자동차부품산업의 미래차 전환을 위한 연구개발과 지원사업 추진 및 디지털 전환과 기술검증·기술 개발 고도화를 이끌어가는 산업혁신 생태계 구축과 전문인력 양성으로 양질의 노동시장 유입을 위한 기반을 강화했다.

이 밖에도 내수 경기 둔화로 어려움을 겪고 있는 기업과 소상공인을 위한 경영개선 지원 확대, 마늘·한방·와인 등 주력 농산물의 6차 산업화와 기술력 있는 농업인 육성, 저소득층, 고령자, 여성 등 고용취약계층에 대한 맞춤형 지원 강화, 청년들의 경제적 자립을 위한 청년창업 특화거리 조성과 취업역량서비스 확대 등 일자리 창출에 앞장섰다.
