한 해의 마지막 날인 12월 31일 밤 10시부터 펼쳐지는 이번 타종식은 송년음악회와 경북대종 타종, 신년 메시지, 소원지 붙이기 등 다양한 프로그램으로 묵은해의 액운을 떨치고 더 나은 새해를 기원하게 된다.

밤 10시부터 삼사해상공원 야외무대에서 식전 행사로 열리는 송년음악회는 화려한 라인업이 눈길을 끈다. 가수 김연자, 김혜연, 우연이, 정수연 등 10여 명의 가수들이 라이브 무대에 서서 제야를 뜨겁게 달궈줄 예정이다.

식전 하이라이트는 높이 2미터에 달하는 청사(靑巳) 조형물에 소원지를 써서 붙이는 퍼포먼스. 방문객은 누구나 참여해서 복된 새해를 발원하며 푸른 빛을 발하는 청사를 완성할 수 있다.

한편 삼사해상공원 야외무대 인근에는 지역단체들이 군고구마, 어묵, 컵라면, 떡국 등 야식을 저렴하게 판매하는 먹거리 부스를 열어 심야의 추위를 녹여줄 예정이다.

고래불해수욕장은 오전 6시부터 10시까지 무료 떡국 시식(약 500인분), 다과, 달집태우기, 풍물패 공연이 펼쳐지고 대진 해수욕장에서도 오전 7시 30분부터 9시까지 따뜻한 떡국을 대접할 예정이다. 또 해돋이가 끝난 후 오전 9시부터 10시 30분까지는 대진해수욕장에서 괴시2리, 상대산(관어대)을 통과해 다시 대진해수욕장으로 돌아오는 신년맞이 블루로드 트래킹 행사도 열린다.
