세계적인 철강 전문 분석 기관인 WSD(World Steel Dynamics)는 지난 12월 22일(뉴욕 현지시간) 2024년 세계에서 가장 경쟁력 있는 철강사(World-Class Steelmaker Rankings) 선정 결과를 발표했다.

1999년 설립된 WSD는 2002년부터 전세계 35개 철강사를 대상으로 기술 혁신, 생산 규모, 원가 절감, 가공비, 재무 건전성, 고객사 접근성, 원료 확보 등 23개 항목을 평가했다.

포스코는 국내 수요산업 침체, 저가 수입 철강재 물량 공세, 글로벌 통상이슈 확대 등 대내외 어려운 판매여건 속에서도 기술 혁신, 가공비, 숙련 노동력, 인수합병·합작투자, 후방·비철강산업 등 5개 항목에서 최고점수를 획득하며 8.62(10점 만점)으로 종합 1위를 기록했다. 이 순위는 글로벌 주요 철강사들의 경영실적과 향후 발전가능성을 가늠하는 중요한 참고지표가 된다.

World Steel Dynamics (WSD), a global steel analysis organization, announced the results of the '24 World's Most Competitive Steelmaker (World-Class Steelmaker Rankings)' on December 22 (New York local time).

Established in 1999, WSD has evaluated 35 steelmakers around the world since 2002 on 23 items including technological innovation, production scale, cost reduction, processing costs, financial soundness, customer accessibility, and raw material acquisition.

POSCO achieved the highest score in five categories including technological innovation, processing costs, skilled labor, M&A/joint investment, and support/non-steel industry, despite difficult sales conditions at home and abroad, such as a slump in domestic demand industry, an offensive of low-priced imported steel products, and an expansion of global trade issues, and ranked first overall with a score of 8.62 (out of 10). This ranking serves as an important reference index for assessing the management performance and future development potential of major global steel companies.
