26일 영천시에 따르면 창도약진은 새로운 길을 개척하며 힘차게 도약하고 발전한다는 의미로, 대구도시철도 1호선 영천(금호) 연장사업 및 경마공원 개장 등 영천시가 앞두고 있는 더 큰 변화를 위해 끊임없는 도전으로 한 단계 더 성장하고자 하는 의지를 담고 있다.

올해 1월 기재부 예비타당성조사를 통과한 대구 도시철도1호선 영천(금호) 연장사업은 지난 9월 대구시·경북도·경산시와 본격 추진을 위한 MOU 체결에 이어 10월 기본계획수립 용역에 착수했으며, 2030년 개통을 목표로 하고 있다. 이를 통해 광역생활권 구축으로 일자리 창출 및 정주여건 개선에 크게 기여할 전망이다. 또한 2026년에 개장될 전국 최대 규모의 영천경마공원은 지역 랜드마크로 자리매김할 것으로 기대된다.
