【브레이크뉴스 경산】이성현 기자=대구한의대학교(총장 변창훈) DHU글로컬 봉사단은 1월 13일부터 20일까지 우즈베키스탄 타슈켄트 및 부하라 지역에서 교육과 문화, 전공 체험 등 다양한 봉사활동을 진행했다고 22일 밝혔다.

이번 DHU 우즈베키스탄 글로컬봉사단 파견은 코로나19로 인해 잠시 멈춘 해외봉사 활동을 5년만에 재개하여 대구한의대학교가 다시 한번 세계로 뻗어나가게 하는 발걸음이라는 중요한 의미가 있다.

이번 봉사단은 박동균 대외협력처장이 인솔하여 이수민(한의학과 1학년)과 우즈베키스탄 유학생 3명을 포함해서 총 20명으로 구성되었다.

이들은 수개월간 틈틈이 K 문화공연, 딱지 치기, 태극기 만들기, 무궁화 꽃이 피었습니다와 같은 다양한 한국 문화를 우즈베키스탄 유치원, 초·중·고등학생, 대학생들과 함께 했다.

봉사 마지막 날에는 고려인들이 많이 있는 아리랑 요양원을 방문해서 어르신들 마스크 팩 붙여 드리기, 안마하고 말벗 되어 드리기, 아리랑 노래 부르기와 댄스 등 재롱잔치로 어르신들의 칭찬과 박수를 받았다.

이 모든 행사에 참석한 박동균 처장은“이번 봉사활동을 위해 봉사단 학생들은 기말고사 기간에도 짬짬히 시간을 내서 우즈베키스탄 학생들이 좋아할 만한 프로그램을 기획하고, 명렬하게 연습했다. 우리 학생들의 열정과 봉사 정신에 우즈벡이 감동했다”고 학생들을 칭찬했다.

대구한의대학교 변창훈 총장은“이번 해외 봉사 활동은 대구한의대학교가 글로컬대학 30사업에 선정된 이후 처음으로 시행하는 해외 봉사프로그램이다. 이번에 봉사활동을 한 글로컬대학 30 사업의 핵심인 K-MEDI 실크로드의 중심에 위치한 부하라국립의과대학과의 공동 봉사활동을 통해 친선교류 및 상호 이해 증진은 큰 의미가 있다. 앞으로 글로벌 캠퍼스와의 봉사활동 등 교류를 보다 확대해 나갈 것이다”라고 말했다.

한편 대구한의대학교는 글로벌 리더를 양성하고, 국가간 문화 교류를 통한 친선과 상호 이해 증진을 위해 2016년에 캄보디아에서 대학 해외봉사 활동을 시작한 이후 2017학년도 라오스, 2018학년도 키르기스스탄, 2019년에는 우즈베키스탄에서 각각 해외봉사단원을 파견하여 글로벌 인재를 양성해 왔다.

 Daegu University of Oriental Medicine Global Volunteer Group Conducts Volunteer Activities in Uzbekistan

Daegu University of Oriental Medicine (President Chang-Hoon Byun) announced on the 22nd that it conducted various volunteer activities in the Tashkent and Bukhara regions of Uzbekistan, including education, culture, and major experience, from January 13 to 20.

This dispatch of the DHU Uzbekistan Global Volunteer Group is significant in that it is a step forward for Daegu University of Oriental Medicine to once again reach out to the world by resuming overseas volunteer activities that were temporarily halted due to COVID-19 after five years.

This volunteer group was led by Director of External Cooperation Dong-Gyun Park and consisted of a total of 20 members, including Soo-Min Lee (first-year student of Oriental Medicine) and three Uzbek students.

For several months, they performed various Korean cultural activities such as K-culture performances, playing tag, making Taegeukgi, and performing Mugunghwa Flower Blossomed with Uzbek kindergarten, elementary, middle, and high school students, and college students.

On the last day of their volunteer service, they visited the Arirang Nursing Home, where there are many Koryo people, and received praise and applause from the elderly for putting on mask packs, giving massages and being friends, and singing and dancing to the Arirang song.

Director Park Dong-gyun, who attended all of these events, praised the students, saying, “For this volunteer activity, the volunteer students took time out of their free time during the final exam period to plan a program that Uzbek students would like, and practiced it vigorously. Uzbekistan was moved by the passion and volunteer spirit of our students.”

President Byeon Chang-hoon of Daegu Haany University said, “This overseas volunteer activity is the first overseas volunteer program that Daegu Haany University has implemented since being selected for the 30 Global University Project. This joint volunteer activity with Bukhara State University of Medicine, located at the center of the K-MEDI Silk Road, which is the core of the Global University 30 project, is very meaningful in terms of promoting friendly exchanges and mutual understanding. We will further expand exchanges such as volunteer activities with global campuses in the future,” he said.

Meanwhile, Daegu University of Oriental Medicine began its overseas volunteer activities in Cambodia in 2016 to foster global leaders and promote friendship and mutual understanding through cultural exchanges between countries. Since then, it has sent overseas volunteers to Laos in 2017, Kyrgyzstan in 2018, and Uzbekistan in 2019, fostering global talent.
