11일 군에 따르면 이번 방문은 장기화된 경기 불황과 지방재정 확보에 적극 대응하고, 특히, 정부 추경예산 수립 시 필요한 국비 반영을 건의하는 등지역 발전의 토대를 마련함은 물론, ‘세계유산 도시’이자 ‘대가야 고도’로서 도시 기반을 갖추기 위한 주요사업의 지원을 당부하고자 이뤄졌다.

이날 국회에서 이남철 군수는 정희용 국회의원실 등을 방문해 대구경북권 산업안전체험교육장 건립, 분산에너지 특화지역 지정, 농어촌 취약지역 생활여건 개조사업,달빛철도 ‘고령역’ 지정(유치),고령 ‘대가야 고도(古都)’관련사업 추진 등 지역의 주요 현안사업에 대한 필요성을 역설하고, 국비 확보 및 지원을 적극 건의했다.

고령군 관계자는 “열악한 재정 여건이지만 국회와의 유기적인 공조를통하여 협력 대응함으로써 공모사업 선정과 국비 확보에 전력을 다할 계획”이라며, “더 많은 예산확보로 군정 주요사업을 원활하게 추진하여 경쟁력 있는 지방 소도시로서 한 단계도약해 나가겠다”고 전했다.
