이번 행사는 지역 내 기업·단체의 지역상권 이용을 통한 건전한 소비문화 동참을 유도하기 위한 민관협력형 지역상권 살리기 운동의 일환이다.

체육회에 따르면 이날 행사에는 이재한 포항시체육회장을 비롯한 포항시체육회 및 회원단체 임직원 30여명이 참여했다.

참가자들은 남부종합시장에서 정월대보름을 맞아 저렴하고 품질 좋은 다양한 전통음식을 구입하며 경기침체와 고물가로 어려움을 겪고 있는 전통시장에 활력을 불어넣었다.

이재한 회장은 “물가 상승과 소비 위축으로 여러가지 어려움을 겪고 있는 소상공인들에게 조금이나마 따뜻한 도움이 되길 바란다.”며 “이번 챌린지 동참이 일회성에 그치지 않고 다양한 활동을 지속적으로 추진하여 지역사회와 상생하는데 앞장서는 포항시체육회로 거듭날 수 있도록 노력하겠다.”고 밝혔다.

한편, 이재한 회장은 다음 챌린지 주자로 김복조 포항시시설관리공단 이사장을 지목했다.
