【브레이크뉴스 영천】이성현 기자=영천시는 지난 12일 대구 군부대 유치 최종이전지 선정을 위해 팔공산 은해사 대웅전에서 민·관이 한마음 한뜻으로 소원 성취 기원 행사를 개최했다고 밝혔다.

이날 행사는 대한불교조계종 제10교구본사 교구장 은해사 주지 덕조스님이 주관했으며, 최기문 영천시장, 김선태 영천시의장, 영천시 대구 군부대 유치 추진위원회(공동위원장 박봉규, 정서진) 등 100여 명이 대구 군부대 유치 최종 이전지 선정이라는 일념으로 한자리에 모였다.

궂은 날씨에도 불구하고 은해사 대웅전에 모인 이들은 국가 안보와 지역 발전을 위한 대구 군부대 유치 최종이전지로 영천시가 선정될 수 있도록 한마음으로 기도를 올렸다. 또한, 기도 후에는 홍보피켓과 어깨띠를 착용하고 힘찬 유치 성공 구호와 함께 캠페인을 전개했다.

법회 주관을 맡은 덕조스님은 “영천시민들이 그토록 염원하는 대구 군부대 영천 유치를 위해 종교를 떠나, 온 시민이 한마음 한뜻으로 발원드린다”며 시민들과 함께 기도를 올렸다.

박봉규 위원장은 “우리 영천이 꼭 군부대가 유치되어서 영천시민 모든 분들의 희망의 등불이 될 수 있도록 모두가 힘을 모아주시길 바란다”고 말했다.

또한 법회를 마치고 나서는 영천강변공원에서 개최된 정월대보름 시민한마당 행사에 참석해 다양한 퍼포먼스와 달집태우기를 통해 많은 시민과 함께 대구 군부대 유치 최종이전지 선정을 기원하는 시간을 가졌다.

최기문 영천시장은 “영천시민들이 그토록 염원하는 대구 군부대 영천 유치가 마지막 한 단계만을 남겨두고 있다”며, “최종 후보지 선정을 위해 유치 활동에 총력을 다하겠다”고 다짐을 밝혔다.
