【브레이크뉴스 구미】이성현 기자=국립금오공과대학교(총장 곽호상)는 신수용 전자공학부 교수가 정보통신 분야의 학문 발전에 기여한 공로를 인정받아 ‘2025년도 한국통신학회 동계종합학술발표회’에서 공로상을 수상하고 신수용 교수가 지도교수로 있는 무선첨단네트워크시스템연구실(WENS) 소속 학생들과 함께 한 논문이 ‘해동우수논문상 최우수상’과 ‘우수논문상’을 수상했다고 13일 밝혔다.

해동우수논문상 최우수상은 IT융복합공학과 아흐마드 살만(AHMAD SALMAN) 박사과정 학생 및 아흐마드 무닙(AHMAD MUNEEB) 박사 후 연구원과 함께 연구한 ‘AFDM-PPCIM: Pre-and-Post Chirp Index Modulation for Delay-Doppler Resilience in Terrestrial and Spaceborne Communications’제목의 논문으로 받았다.

이 연구는 AFDM-PPCIM을 사용한 채널의 지연과 도플러 프로파일을 활용한 신호 강도 및 복원력을 향상시키는 방법에 대한 것이다. 변화가 심한 무선 환경에서도 사전·사후 칩(Chirp) 매개변수의 최적화로 안정적인 전송을 유지하고, PPCIM을 통해 추가 정보를 인코딩하면서도 스펙트럼 및 에너지 효율을 향상시킬 수 있어 미래 네트워크에 적합한 솔루션이 될 수 있다.

또한 IT융합공학과 우준혁 석사과정 학생과 지난 2024년 한국통신학회 추계학술대회에서 발표한 ‘ANC(Automatic Noise Cancellation)를 활용한 딥러닝 기반 UAV 프로펠러 고장 감지 연구’가 우수논문으로 선정돼 이번 동계종합학술대회에서 우수논문상을 받았다.

신수용 교수는 현재 국립금오공대 BK21FOUR교육연구단장을 비롯해 과기부와 정보통신기획평가원에서 시행하는 대학ICT연구센터사업단장, ICT혁신인재4.0사업단장을 맡으며 석·박사급 고급 인재를 양성하고 있다. 지난해에는 정보통신 분야 최고권위상인 2024 해동학술대상을 비롯해 미국 스탠퍼드대가 발표하는 세계 상위 2% 연구자로 2년 연속(`23~24) 선정됐다.

신수용 교수는 “이번 공로상 수상과 더불어 다양한 연구 성과를 통해 국립금오공대와 무선첨단네트워크시스템연구실의 연구 경쟁력을 증명한 것 같아 기쁘게 생각한다.”며, “앞으로도 세계적 수준의 혁신 기술을 개발할 수 있도록 활발한 연구 활동을 지속적으로 이어가겠다.”고 말했다.

한편, 2025년도 한국통신학회 동계종합학술발표회는 지난 2월 5일부터 7일까지 용평리조트에서 열려 다양한 학술발표와 공로상 및 해동우수논문상 등의 시상식이 진행됐다.

The Haedong Excellent Paper Award was given to the paper titled ‘AFDM-PPCIM: Pre-and-Post Chirp Index Modulation for Delay-Doppler Resilience in Terrestrial and Spaceborne Communications’, which was conducted with AHMAD SALMAN, a PhD student in the Department of IT Convergence Engineering, and AHMAD MUNEEB, a postdoctoral researcher.

This study is about a method to improve signal strength and resilience using delay and Doppler profiles of channels using AFDM-PPCIM. It can be a suitable solution for future networks as it can maintain stable transmission by optimizing pre- and post-chirp parameters even in a highly variable wireless environment, and improve spectral and energy efficiency while encoding additional information through PPCIM.

In addition, the master's degree student Woo Jun-hyeok of the IT Convergence Engineering Department and the 'A Study on UAV Propeller Failure Detection Using ANC (Automatic Noise Cancellation) Based on Deep Learning' presented at the 2024 Korea Communications Society Fall Conference were selected as excellent papers and received the Excellent Paper Award at this winter comprehensive academic conference.

Professor Shin Soo-yong is currently the Director of the BK21FOUR Education and Research Center at Kumoh National Institute of Technology, the Director of the University ICT Research Center Project and the Director of the ICT Innovation Talent 4.0 Project Project implemented by the Ministry of Science and ICT and the National Information Society Agency, and is fostering advanced talents at the master's and doctoral level. Last year, he was selected as one of the top 2% researchers in the world by Stanford University in the United States for two consecutive years (`23-24), including the 2024 Haedong Academic Award, the highest honor in the information and communication field.
