  포항시는 지난 14일 시청 중회의실에서 한동대학교와 ‘세계녹색성장포럼(World Green Growth Forum, WGGF) 컨소시엄 업무협약’을 체결하고, 세계녹색성장포럼의 성공적 개최와 홍보에 협력키로 했다.

  이날 협약식은 이강덕 포항시장과 최도성 한동대학교 총장 등 관계자 20여 명이 참석해 포럼(WGGF) 개최 계획을 공유한 후 행사의 성공적 추진을 위한 상호 업무협약을 체결했다. 

  업무협약은 세계녹색성장포럼(WGGF)의 성공적 개최로 지역 사회에 ESG 문화를 확산시키고 글로벌 가치를 실현하는 것을 목표로 포럼 운영과 관련된 다양한 실무적 사항에 대해 지속적으로 협의하며 공동 노력을 기울이는 것을 골자로 하고 있다. 

  세계녹색성성장포럼(WGGF)는 올해 5월 14일부터 15일까지 이틀간 개최 예정인 국제포럼으로, 오는 2027년 포항국제전시컨벤션센터(POEX)가 개관하면 매년 정례적으로 개최해 포럼의 규모와 위상을 확대해 나갈 계획이다.

  특히 ‘탄소 다배출 도시에서 녹색 도시로의 전환’을 핵심 아젠다로 삼아 단순한 기후 포럼을 넘어 포항시와 국제기구, 산학연, 시민이 교류하는 장으로 개최해 글로벌 네트워크를 구축하고, 포항을 대표하는 시그니처 국제회의로 육성해 나간다는 방침이다. 

  이강덕 시장은 “포항시와 한동대가 긴밀히 협력해 세계녹색성장포럼을 성공적으로 개최해 포항이 다보스처럼 세계의 정책 아젠다를 주도하는 도시로 성장할 수 있는 기반을 만들겠다”며 “이번 포럼이 포항형 시그니처 국제회의로 글로벌 인지도를 높이고 지속가능한 국제 브랜드로 자리 잡을 수 있도록 체계적인 브랜딩 전략을 적극 추진해 나가겠다”고 말했다.

Pohang City joined hands with Handong University to host a signature international conference representing the region.

On the 14th, Pohang City signed a ‘World Green Growth Forum (WGGF) Consortium Business Agreement’ with Handong University in the City Hall conference room, and agreed to cooperate in the successful hosting and promotion of the World Green Growth Forum.

On this day, about 20 people including Pohang Mayor Lee Kang-deok and Handong University President Choi Do-seong attended the signing ceremony, shared the plan for hosting the forum (WGGF), and signed a mutual business agreement for the successful promotion of the event.

The business agreement aims to spread ESG culture in the local community and realize global values ​​through the successful hosting of the World Green Growth Forum (WGGF), and to continuously discuss and make joint efforts on various practical matters related to the operation of the forum.

The World Green Growth Forum (WGGF) is an international forum scheduled to be held for two days from May 14 to 15 this year. When the Pohang International Exhibition Convention Center (POEX) opens in 2027, it will be held regularly every year to expand the scale and status of the forum.

In particular, it aims to establish a global network by holding it as a venue for exchange between Pohang City, international organizations, academia, and citizens beyond a simple climate forum with the core agenda of ‘transitioning from a high-carbon emission city to a green city’, and to foster it as a signature international conference representing Pohang.

Mayor Lee Kang-deok said, “Pohang City and Handong Global University will work closely together to successfully host the World Green Growth Forum, thereby laying the foundation for Pohang to grow into a city that leads the global policy agenda like Davos.” He added, “We will actively pursue a systematic branding strategy so that this forum can raise global awareness as a Pohang-style signature international conference and establish itself as a sustainable international brand.”
