이날 봉사활동에는 김일만 의장을 비롯한 의원들과 의회사무국 직원 10여명이 함께했다.

김일만 의장을 비롯한 의원들과 직원들은 급식소를 방문한 어르신들께직접 배식을 하고, 설거지와 식기정리를 하며 의미있는 시간을 보냈다. 또한, 배식 중에는 어르신들과 담소를 나누며 생활 속 불편한 점이나 개선이 필요한 부분에 대해 다양한 의견을 주고받았다.

김일만 의장은 “작은 정성이지만 따뜻한 식사 한 끼를 통해 소외되고어려운 이웃에게 조금이나마 도움의 손길을 줄 수 있어 기쁘다”며, “함께 살아가는 따뜻한 사회 분위기 조성을 위해 포항시의회가 더 노력하겠다”고 말했다.

한편, 포항시의회는 지난해 7월 제9대 후반기의회 출범 이후 매월 무료급식소 배식 봉사활동을 펼치며 지속적으로 시민과 함께하는 현장소통 의정 구현을 위해 노력하고 있다.
