【브레이크뉴스 영천】이성현 기자=최기문 영천시장은 20일 영천시의 주요 역점 추진 사업인 영천경마공원 건설 현장과 금호 역세권 개발 예정지를 방문해 공사 진행 상황을 점검하고 공사 관계자들을 격려했다.

영천시에 따르면 영천경마공원은 한국마사회 사업비 3,057억 원 중 1단계로 1,857억 원이 우선 투입되어 약 20만 평 규모로 2026년 상반기 개장을 목표로 공사를 진행하고 있다.

또 금호 역세권 개발사업은 2030년 예정인 대구도시철도 1호선 금호 연장에 따라 신설될 역사 주변을 체계적이고 효율적으로 개발하기 위해 추진 중인 사업으로 현재 기본 구상 및 타당성 용역을 진행 중이다.

최 시장은 먼저 영천경마공원 건설 현장에 방문해 한국마사회 영천건설사업단장을 비롯한 공사 관계자들을 만나 영천경마공원의 공사 추진 현황(공정률 60%)과 앞으로의 공사 계획에 대한 브리핑을 받고직접 공사현장을 둘러보며 해빙기 공사장 안전 관리의 중요성을 강조했다.

이어 경마공원 인근 금호 역세권 개발사업 예정지를 방문해 금호 역세권 개발사업의 진행 상황 및 개발 예정지 부지 현황에 대한 보고를 받으며 앞으로의 개발 진행 방향 및 주요 현안에 대해 논의하는 시간을 가졌다.

최기문 영천시장은 “불과 몇 년 전만 하더라도 논밭밖에 없는허허벌판에 영천의 미래를 이끌어갈 두 사업이 차질 없이 추진되고 있어 감개가 무량함을 느끼고 있다”며 그간 공사 관계자들의 노고에 깊은 감사를 전하였으며, 공사현장 안전사고 예방 및 지역경제 활성화를 위해 건설 현장 내에 지역 업체·장비·인력 참여를 확대해 줄 것을 요청했다.
