27일, 청하공진시장에서 드라마 속 마을 주민들이 일상을 나누던 장면으로 유명한 오징어 조형물 제막식이 열렸다. 이 조형물은 드라마의 인기에 힘입어 청하공진시장을 관광명소로 자리잡게 만든 중요한 요소 중 하나이다. 현재 이 시장은 동남아시아 관광객들에게 큰 인기를 끌며, 한 달 평균 30여 대의 해외 관광버스가 이곳을 찾고 있다.

포항시는 관광객들이 드라마 속 촬영지를 방문하고, 이를 기념할 수 있는 공간을 마련해 지역 상권을 활성화하고 있다. 이를 위해 2023년에는 청하공진시장에 8억 원을 들여 공영주차장 195면을 조성했으며, 지난해부터는 5억 원을 투입해 환경 개선 사업을 진행하고 있다.

한편, 이날 포항시는 청하면 행정복지센터 리모델링 사업을 마친 후 준공식을 개최했다. 이강덕 포항시장을 비롯한 지역 시·도의원, 자생단체, 면민들이 참석한 가운데 새로운 모습으로 태어난 청하면 행정복지센터를 축하하는 시간을 가졌다.

기존 청하면 행정복지센터는 38년이 지난 노후 청사로, 일부 시설에 부식과 균열, 누수 등의 문제가 있었다. 이에 시는 지난해 8월 리모델링을 착공하고 6개월 동안의 공사를 거쳐, 주민들의 행정 및 복지 서비스 이용 편의성을 높였다. 

새롭게 단장한 행정복지센터는 연면적 858㎡, 2층 규모로, 특히 엘리베이터를 설치하여 노령 인구가 많은 지역 주민들의 편의를 고려했다. 건축물은 자연경관과 잘 어우러지도록 뱃머리 모양으로 설계되어, 청하면의 아름다운 바다와 환동해 중심도시로서의 의지를 상징하고 있다.

이강덕 포항시장은 “K-드라마 성지로 알려진 포항 지역에 관광객들이 더 많이 찾을 수 있도록 시설을 개선하고 편의를 높여 지역 경제에 활력을 불어넣겠다”며, “청하면에서 시민들에게 더 나은 행정 서비스를 제공할 수 있도록 지속적으로 노력하겠다”고 말했다.
