4일 도의회 브리핑룸에서 기자회견을 개최한 박용선 의원은  '분산에너지 활성화 특별법'에 따른 특화단지 지정 신청을 앞두고 있는 경북도의 적극 대응을 촉구했다.

그는  "경북도에 국내 가동 원전 26기 중 13기가 있고 연간 전력 생산량도 전국 최대이지만 정작 절반 이상의 전력이 수도권으로 송전된다"고 설명했다.

그러면서 "이같은 불합리한 구조를 타파하고 실질적 변화를 이루기 위해서는 경북이 분산에너지 특화지역으로 지정되야한다"며 "지방이 직접 생산한 전기를 활용하고 이를 기반으로 지역경제를 발전시킬 수 있는 권한을 가져야 한다"고 주장했다.

특히  "포항의 철강산업을 비롯한 경북의 핵심산업들은 중국의 저가공세에 맞서야 하는 현실 속에서 수도권과 같은 전력 혜택조차 받지 못하고 있다"며 "전력생산지역에서 저렴하게 전기를 제공하면 기업들은 자연스레 수도권에서 지방으로 이전할 것"이라고 강조했다.

박용선 경북도의원은 "경북이 분산에너지특화지역으로 지정되면 AI국가 데이터센터, 반도체 공장 같은 첨단산업을 유치할 기반이 마련된다"며 "분산에너지 활성화를 통해 수도권 집중을 분산하고 지방을 살려야 대한민국이 산다"고 강조했다.
