자동차 탄소중립포인트제는 참여 전 일 평균 주행거리와 제도 참여 기간 동안의 일 평균 주행거리를 비교해, 주행거리 감축 실적에 따라 12월에 최대 10만 원의 인센티브를 지급하는 제도이다. 이를 통해 군은 차량 운전자들의 주행거리 감소를 유도하고 온실가스 배출을 줄이려는 목표를 가지고 있다.

이번 모집은 1차 신청 기간인 17일부터 27일까지와 2차 신청 기간인 4월 7일부터 11일까지로 나눠 진행된다. 선착순으로 105대(1인당 1대)를 모집하며, 모집 대상은 12인 이하 비사업용 승용‧승합차로, 친환경 차량인 전기차, 하이브리드차, 수소차 등은 제외된다.
