현재 경주 지역에는 11개 보훈단체에서 총 2만 8,258명이 활동 중이다. 단체별 회원 수는 ▲상이군경회 1,123명 ▲전몰군경유족회 1,050명 ▲6·25참전유공자회 240명 ▲월남참전자회 850명 ▲재향군인회 2만 3,000명 등이다.

이에 따라 경주시는 보훈단체 운영 및 행사 지원을 위해 총 3억 1,400만원의 예산을 편성했다. 이를 통해 ▲6·25전쟁 기념행사 ▲재향군인의 날 행사 ▲국가안보의식 고취 사업 등이 지속적으로 추진될 예정이다.

또한, 경주시는 참전유공자 및 유가족을 대상으로 한 명예수당과 사망위로금 지원 사업을 계속해서 운영한다. 6·25전쟁 및 월남전 참전유공자와 사망 유공자의 배우자 2,680명에게는 참전유공자 월 10만원, 배우자 월 5만원, 사망위로금 30만원이 지급된다.

경상북도는 추가로 참전유공자 및 유가족에게 월 10만원의 명예수당을 지원하고 있으며, 국가유공자 및 유족(참전유공자 제외) 1,850명에게 보훈명예수당 월 10만원과 사망위로금 30만원을 지급한다. 또한, 올해부터 경북도는 국가유공자 및 유족을 대상으로 신규 사업으로 보훈예우수당을 도입, 매월 5만원을 추가 지원할 계획이다.
