18일 대구 중구 YMCA카페에서 '헌법 개정 토크'에 앞서 기자들을 만난 이낙연 상임고문은 “사회의 혼란을 조기에 수습하려면 헌재가 대통령 탄핵을 인용하는 판결이 빨리 나와야 한다”고 입장을 밝혔다.

그러면서 “그동안의 변론 과정에서는 지나치다 할 만큼 빠르게 진행했는데 변론 이후 지금까지 속도가 나지 않는 것 같다”며 “헌재는 판결까지 빨리 진행하려고 계획했으나 그렇게 안 되는 모종의 변화가 있는 것 같다”고 강조했다.

이어 이재명 더불어민주당 대표의 항소심 선고에 대한 기자의 질문에 “사법의 영역이기 때문에 정치권에 있는 사람이 왈가왈 보는 것은 바람직하지 않다”면서도 “국민의 상식에 맞게 국민의 정의감에 부합하게 결론이 나리라 기대한다”고 덧붙엿다.

또한 개헌에 대해 소극적인 이재명 대표에 대해 “헌법을 고치지 않고서는 본인이 선거에서 이긴다 하더라도 행복한 결말을 기대하기 어려울 것”이라고 꼬집었다.

그러면서 “너무 단기간 짧은 눈으로 유불리를 보지 말고 시대의 요구인 개헌을 수용함으로써 국가도 이 위기를 넘기게 하고 본인도 더 편한 마음으로 선거와 선거 이후를 맞을 수 있길 바란다”고 덧붙였다.
