지난 몇 주간 지속된 눈과 비로 움츠려있던 봄꽃들이 급격히 오른 기온과 함께 활짝 피기 시작했다. 이들 봄꽃은 주로 산지의 계곡이나 숲속 등 인적이 드문 곳에 무리지어 피는 특징이 있다.

특히, 진달래는 환경부에서 지정한 '계절 알리미 생물종' 50종 중 하나로, 기후와 계절의 변화를 감지할 수 있는 중요한 생물종으로 평가받고 있다.

팔공산국립공원동부사무소는 개화를 시작한 국립공원의 '계절 알리미 생물종'을 지속적으로 관찰하며 기후 변화와 생태계 변화를 예측하는 데 활용할 계획이다.
