이번 단속은 통신판매 시장의 확대에 따라 원산지 표시 관리 사각지대를 해소하고 소비자 피해를 방지하기 위한 것으로, 온라인 쇼핑몰과 오픈마켓 등을 중심으로 집중 점검이 이뤄질 예정이다.
주요 단속 대상은 ▲화면 상단에는 ‘국내산’으로 표기하면서 실제 상세정보에는 ‘외국산’으로 표시한 경우, ▲상단에 ‘별도 표시’라고 안내해 놓고 하단에는 실제 원산지를 누락한 경우, ▲일반 농산물을 유명 지역 특산물로 속여 표시한 경우, ▲통신판매에서 요구되는 표시 기준을 지키지 않은 사례 등이다.
경북농관원은 이번 단속에서 적발된 업체에 대해 '농수산물의 원산지 표시 등에 관한 법률'에 따라 엄정한 처분을 내릴 방침이다. 거짓 표시의 경우 최대 7년 이하의 징역 또는 1억 원 이하의 벌금이, 표시 누락이나 방법 위반 시에는 최대 1,000만 원 이하의 과태료가 부과된다.
경북농관원 관계자는 “통신판매 시장의 확대 속에서 소비자들이 안심하고 상품을 구매할 수 있도록 온라인 유통 질서를 확립해 나가겠다”며 “소비자들께서도 제품 구매 시 원산지 정보를 반드시 확인하고, 위반 의심 사례는 농관원 콜센터(1588-8112)나 누리집(www.naqs.go.kr)으로 적극 신고해달라”고 당부했다.
