세계는 트럼프 미 대통령의의 관세 전쟁에 대비하느라 하루가 바쁘고, 한시가 급하게 트럼프와의 협상에 분주히 나서고 있다.

그러나 우리는 윤석열 전 대통령의 계엄령 사태로 인해 신속한 대응 자체가 어려운 상황에 부닥치게 되었다. 그마저도 한덕수 대행의 정치적 탄핵으로 인한 87일 간의 직무 정지로 인해 사실상 통상 협상 자체가 차단되었고, 여기에 국정 마비까지 겹쳐 상황은 더욱 악화되었다.

사실 한덕수 대통령 권한대행은 정파를 떠나, 지금과 같은 관세 전쟁 국면에 맞춤형 경험을 갖춘 인물이다. 초야에 있었다 하더라도, 대미(對美) 협상을 위해 발탁할 만한 경험을 가졌다. 무역으로 먹고사는 우리나라에 있어 관세 대응은 단순한 문제가 아니다. 국익은 물론 민생경제의 생사여탈이 달린 중대 사안이다. 상황이 이런데도 87일간의 직무 정지조차 모자라, 아예 아무 일도 하지 말라고 막아서고 있는 민주당의 독선은 국민을 질리게 만들고 있다.

국회의 대정부질문에서도 민주당은 시종일관, 자신들이 집권할 때까지는 아무 일도 하지 말고 복지부동하라는 식으로 윽박지르고 있다. 급기야는 한덕수 대통령 권한 대행이 트럼프 행정부와 관세 협상을 하지 못하도록 1인 시위까지 벌이는 지경에 이르렀다. 국익 저해의 끝판왕이라 할 수 있다.

이성과 양식을 잃은 권력은 흉기가 된다는 사실을 절감하게 한다. 관세 협상에서 좋은 결과가 나올까 봐 전전긍긍하는 그들의 모습은 참으로 가관이다.

그들에게 있어 관세 협상의 긍정적 성과는 곧 악재라는 것인가? 이는 이재명 민주당의 '놀부 심보'일 뿐만 아니라, 사실상 반국가적 이적행위에 가깝다.

이러한 국민 배신적 인식과 극단적 당리당략에 사로잡힌 집단이 정권을 맡겠다고 나서는 것 자체가 어불성설이다.
