【브레이크뉴스 경북】이성현 기자=경상북도는 지난 3월 발생한 대규모 산불로 특별재난지역으로 선포된  5개 시군(안동시, 의성군, 청송군, 영양군, 영덕군)의 임업인들을 위한 ‘임업·산림 공익직불금’ 등록 신청 기간을 오는 5월 15일까지 연장한다고 21일 밝혔다.

이번 조치는 산불 피해로 경영 여건이 어려워진 지역 임업인들의 원활한 신청을 지원하고, 피해 복구와 지속 가능한 산림 경영 기반 마련을 위한 지원책의 일환으로 시행된다.

‘임업·산림 공익직불금(이하 임업직불금)’은 임업경영체 등록 산지를 대상으로 산림의 공익 기능 제공 여부를 평가해 경제적으로 보상하는 제도다. 지급 대상은 2019년 4월 1일부터 2022년 9월 30일까지 임업경영체로 등록된 산지이며, 산림 보존·관리, 재해 예방 등 임업 활동을 수행한 경영주에게 지원된다.

임업직불금은 매년 산림자원 보호와 재해 예방 활동에 참여하는 임업인들을 격려하고, 임업의 지속가능성 확보에 큰 역할을 해왔다. 2023년 경북도에서는 총 74억 원 규모의 직불금이 지급된 바 있다.

기존 신청 마감일은 4월 30일이었으나, 이번 연장으로 5월 15일까지로 조정됐다. 신청은 관할 읍·면·동 행정복지센터를 직접 방문해 접수하면 된다.

조현애 경북도 산림자원국장은 “이번 신청 연장은 피해 임업인들이 한 명도 빠짐없이 지원받을 수 있도록 하기 위함”이라며 “앞으로도 도는 산불로 훼손된 산림 복원과 임업인의 안정적 경영을 위해 최선을 다하겠다”고 밝혔다.
