에코프로는 지난 5일 포항 고운결공방에서 ‘DIY 원목 책걸상 제작 봉사활동’을 진행했다고 밝혔다. 이날 행사에는 임직원 20여 명이 참여해 화학약품을 사용하지 않는 친환경 방식으로 책걸상을 조립하며 지역 사회를 위한 뜻깊은 시간을 가졌다.

이번에 제작된 책걸상은 국산 친환경 목재를 사용해 책상 1개와 의자 4개로 구성된 1세트로, 내구성이 뛰어난 원목 제품으로 완성됐다.

에코프로는 이번 1회차 봉사활동을 시작으로 오는 12일과 19일에도 추가 활동을 이어가며, 총 60여 명의 임직원이 참여해 책상 8개, 의자 32개 등 총 8세트(시가 약 1천만 원 상당)의 책걸상을 제작해 포항 지역의 꿈나무지역아동센터, 해맑은지역아동센터 등 8개 지역아동센터에 순차적으로 전달할 예정이다.

이번 활동은 (사)포항시자원봉사센터와의 협력 아래 2023년부터 3년째 지속되고 있으며, 에코프로는 이를 통해 지역 아동들이 보다 안정적이고 쾌적한 환경에서 학습에 전념할 수 있도록 지속적인 지원을 이어오고 있다.

에코프로 관계자는 “지역 아동·청소년들이 보다 나은 환경에서 꿈을 키워갈 수 있도록 매년 원목 책걸상 제작 봉사에 임직원들이 자발적으로 참여하고 있다”며 “앞으로도 소외계층 아동을 위한 다양한 사회공헌 활동을 통해 차별 없는 지역사회를 만들어가겠다”고 말했다.

EcoPro, an eco-friendly materials company, is practicing warm sharing by donating wooden desks that it made with its employees to a local children’s center to improve the learning environment for children in the Pohang area.

EcoPro announced that it had conducted a **‘DIY Wooden Desk Production Volunteer Activity’** at the Pohang Goun-gyeol Workshop on the 5th. About 20 employees participated in the event and had a meaningful time for the local community by assembling desks in an eco-friendly way without using chemicals.

The desks produced this time are made of domestic eco-friendly wood and consist of one desk and four chairs, and are made of durable wooden products.
