【브레이크뉴스 포항】박영재 기자=2차전지 소재 전문기업 에코프로(대표 송호준)가 전사적인 AI 경영 체제 구축에 박차를 가하고 있다. 에코프로는 최근 지주사 조직 개편을 통해 ‘AI혁신실’을 신설하고, 그룹 전체의 AI 전환을 총괄하는 컨트롤 타워로 운영한다고 15일 밝혔다.

이번에 신설된 AI혁신실은 기존 디지털 전환(DT)실의 기능을 확대·개편한 조직으로, 제조원가 절감과 R&D 효율성 제고를 위한 AI 전략의 핵심 거점으로 자리잡게 된다. AI 전문가를 전면 배치해 제조, 연구개발, 사무 전반에 걸쳐 AI 기반 혁신을 본격 추진한다는 방침이다.

에코프로는 특히 제조 현장과 생산 설비에 AI 자동화 및 최적화 기술을 도입하고, AI 협업을 통해 품질 및 의사결정 역량을 고도화할 계획이다. 연구개발 부문에서는 실험 자동화 및 최적 설계 대안 도출을 통해 연구 생산성 30% 향상, 사무 부문에서는 생성형 AI 기반의 업무 자동화 도입률 90% 이상 달성을 목표로 설정했다.

회사는 AI 경영문화 확산을 위한 사내 활동도 병행하고 있다. 올 하반기에는 제조·개발·사무 등 전 부문을 대상으로 ‘AI경진대회’를 개최해 실무 적용 사례를 발굴·포상하고, 임직원들의 AI 마인드를 제고할 방침이다.

송호준 대표는 최근 경영회의에서 “AI는 단순한 기술이 아닌 업무의 핵심 파트너”라며, “가격 경쟁력 확보와 품질 향상을 위해서는 제조와 연구개발 전반에 AI를 깊숙이 도입해야 한다”고 강조했다.

한편, 에코프로는 지난해 말부터 정부 주관의 ‘AI 자율제조 국책과제’에도 참여하고 있다. 양극재 제조 현장에 품질 예측 시스템을 구축하고, 공정 데이터를 실시간 분석해 설비를 자동 제어하는 등 스마트팩토리 수준을 한층 끌어올리는 것이 핵심이다.

EcoPro Establishes AI Innovation Lab… Accelerating Company-Wide AI Management
