【브레이크뉴스 포항】박영재 기자=동해지방해양경찰청(청장 김성종)은 지난 30일 강릉시에 재난사태가 선포된 가운데, 심각한 가뭄으로 생활용수가 부족한 강릉지역에 삼봉호를 동원해 긴급 급수 지원에 나섰다고 3일 밝혔다.

동해해경청은 지난 9월 1일 ‘경비함정지원 긴급대책회의’를 열고 강릉시 물 부족 상황을 면밀히 검토하고 관계부서와 협의를 통해 즉시 투입하기로 결정했다.

이번 지원은 9월 3일 강릉 안인항 화력발전소내 하역부두에서 진행되며, 5000톤급 경비함정 삼봉호(5001함)가 소방차에 직접 물을 공급해 신속하게 강릉 홍제동 정수장으로 이송할 계획이다.

특히, 삼봉호는 소방차 50대 분량, 약 600톤의 생활용수를 공급할 수 있어 가뭄 장기화로 인한 시민 불편해소에 도움이 될 것으로 기대된다.

동해해경청은 이번 지원을 통해 지역사회와의 협력체계를 강화하고 재난 상황에서 국민의 생활안정을 보장하는 역할을 적극 수행하며, 관계기관과 협의를 통해 지속적인 지원을 이어갈 방침이다.
