【브레이크뉴스 경북】이성현 기자=국립농산물품질관리원 경북지원(원장 서준한, 이하 경북농관원)은 추석 명절을 앞두고 수요가 급증하는 제수용품과 선물용품, 지역 특산품에 대해 15일부터 10월 2일까지(18일간) 원산지 표시 일제 단속을 벌인다.

이번 단속은 ▲9월 15일~22일 선물·제수용 농식품 제조·가공업체를 우선 점검하고, ▲9월 23일~10월 2일에는 소비가 많은 대도시 백화점, 대형마트, 전통시장 등 유통업체를 집중 점검하는 방식으로 진행된다.

특히, 사과·배·단감·배추·무·양파·마늘·감자·애호박 등 농산물 9종과 소·돼지·닭고기·계란 등 축산물 4종, 밤·대추 등 임산물 2종 등 총 15개 주요 성수품에 대해 집중 관리할 예정이다. 임산물에 대해서는 산림청과 합동점검도 실시한다.

외국산을 국내산으로 속여 판매하거나 인지도가 낮은 지역 농산물을 유명 특산품으로 둔갑시켜 판매하는 경우에는 형사처벌을, 원산지 미표시 행위에 대해서는 과태료를 부과할 방침이다.

또한 경북농관원은 전통시장에서 특사경, 소비자단체 명예감시원, 시장상인회와 함께 올바른 원산지 표시 캠페인을 전개하고, 소비자들이 제수용품 구입 시 참고할 수 있도록 농관원 누리집(www.naqs.go.kr)에 국산과 외국산 농산물 원산지 식별정보를 제공한다.

경북농관원 관계자는 “추석 명절을 맞아 소비자들이 믿고 우리 농식품을 구입할 수 있도록 점검과 홍보를 강화하겠다”며 “선물·제수용품 구입 시 반드시 원산지 표시를 확인해 달라”고 당부했다.

The Gyeongbuk Branch of the National Agricultural Products Quality Management Service (Director Seo Jun-han, hereinafter referred to as the Gyeongbuk Agricultural Products Quality Management Service) will conduct a comprehensive crackdown on country of origin labeling for ceremonial goods, gifts, and local specialties, which are experiencing a surge in demand ahead of the Chuseok holiday, from September 15 to October 2 (18 days).

The crackdown will primarily focus on manufacturers and processors of agricultural and food products for gift and ceremonial use from September 15 to 22. From September 23 to October 2, the focus will be on distribution centers such as department stores, large supermarkets, and traditional markets in major cities.

In particular, intensive management will be conducted on 15 key seasonal products, including nine agricultural products (apples, pears, persimmons, cabbage, radishes, onions, garlic, potatoes, and zucchini); four livestock products (beef, pork, chicken, and eggs); and two forestry products (chestnuts and jujubes). Joint inspections of forestry products will also be conducted with the Korea Forest Service.

Criminal penalties will be imposed for selling imported products as domestic products or for disguising lesser-known local agricultural products as well-known specialties. Fines will also be imposed for failing to label the country of origin.

Furthermore, the Gyeongbuk Agricultural Research and Extension Services (NARS) will work with special prosecutors, honorary inspectors from consumer groups, and market merchants' associations to conduct a campaign to ensure proper country of origin labeling at traditional markets. The NARS website (www.naqs.go.kr) will provide information on the country of origin of domestic and foreign agricultural products for consumers to reference when purchasing ceremonial items.

An official from the Gyeongbuk Agricultural Products Management Office said, “We will strengthen inspections and promotions to ensure that consumers can purchase our agricultural and food products with confidence during the Chuseok holiday,” and asked, “Please be sure to check the country of origin label when purchasing gifts and ancestral rite items.”
