【브레이크뉴스 포항】박영재 기자=이차전지 소재 기업 에코프로가 창립 27주년을 앞두고 임직원에게 양도제한조건부주식(RSU, Restricted Stock Units)을 지급하며 ‘성과 공유’ 문화 확산에 나선다.
에코프로는 오는 22일 창립기념일을 맞아 임직원 약 2400명에게 자사주 약 26만 주를 지급할 예정이라고 20일 밝혔다. 상장사 소속 직원들은 직접 자사주를 받으며, 비상장 계열사 임직원은 모회사 주식을 수령한다.
이번 지급은 2023년 2월 체결된 RSU 계약에 따른 것으로, 회사는 당시 직급과 근속연수 등을 종합적으로 고려해 총 2706명에게 53만3515주 상당의 자사주를 배정했다. 임직원 1인당 평균 지급 규모는 연봉의 약 20% 수준이었다.
에코프로는 지난해 전체 RSU의 절반을 먼저 지급했으며, 올해는 창립기념일을 기준으로 2차 지급 절차를 진행 중이다.
회사 관계자는 “창립 이래 회사의 성장 성과를 임직원과 함께 나누며, ‘함께 성장하는 기업문화’를 정착시켜 왔다”며 “이번 RSU 지급 역시 그 일환”이라고 설명했다.
에코프로의 RSU 제도는 2022년 창립 25주년 당시 이동채 창업주의 뜻에 따라 도입됐다. 지방 중소기업으로 출발해 글로벌 양극재 1위 기업으로 성장한 과정에서 임직원의 공로를 인정하고, 이익을 공유하자는 취지였다.
이동채 창업주는 “회사의 주인은 임직원”이라며 “나는 여러분이 마음껏 뛸 수 있는 운동장을 만드는 역할을 할 뿐, 회사가 성장하면 그 과실이 직원들에게 돌아가야 한다”고 강조한 것으로 전해졌다.
현재 RSU 제도는 에코프로의 대표적인 임직원 복지 프로그램으로 자리 잡았다. 주인의식을 높이고, 장기적 성장을 함께 모색하는 기반이 되고 있다는 평가다.
특히 2030 세대 젊은 임직원들은 RSU를 학자금 대출 상환이나 전세금 마련 등 실질적인 생활 안정 수단으로 활용하고 있다.
에코프로 소속 정모 책임은 “석사 학위 취득 후 입사했는데, RSU를 통해 학자금을 모두 상환할 수 있었다”며 “회사가 직원 보상과 복지를 얼마나 진정성 있게 생각하는지 체감했다”고 말했다.

EcoPro to Award 260,000 Shares of Treasury Stock to Employees in Celebration of 27th Anniversary

Founder Lee Dong-chae reportedly emphasized, "The owners of the company are the employees," adding, "I simply provide a playground where you can run freely. As the company grows, the fruits of its growth should be shared with the employees."
The RSU program has become EcoPro's signature employee welfare program. It is recognized as fostering a sense of ownership and serving as a foundation for pursuing long-term growth together.
Young employees, particularly those in their 20s and 30s, are using RSUs as a practical means of securing their livelihood, such as by repaying student loans or saving for a deposit.
Jeong Mo, a manager at Ecopro, said, "I joined the company after earning my master's degree, and I was able to repay all of my student loans thanks to RSUs. I was able to truly appreciate how seriously the company values employee compensation and benefits."
