【브레이크뉴스 경북】이성현 기자=국립농산물품질관리원 경북지원(원장 서준한, 이하 경북농관원)은 추석 명절을 맞아 9월 15일부터 10월 2일까지 18일간 선물·제수용품을 대상으로 원산지 표시 일제 점검을 실시하고, 49개 업체를 적발했다고 밝혔다.

주요 위반 품목은 김치류 15건, 두부류 10건, 돼지고기 3건, 닭고기 3건, 염소 2건 등으로 나타났다.

이번 점검에는 특별사법경찰과 명예감시원이 투입돼 선물·제수용품 제조·유통업체, 통신판매업체, 농축산물 도·소매업체 등 2,006개소를 대상으로, 외국산을 국내산으로 둔갑 판매하거나, 국내산을 유명지역 특산물로 속여 판매하는 행위를 집중 점검했다.

적발된 업체 중 거짓 표시 20개 업체는 형사입건돼 자체 수사 후 검찰에 송치될 예정이며, 미표시 29개 업체에는 총 525만 원의 과태료가 부과됐다.

또한 점검 기간 동안 경북농관원은 전통시장 등에서 소비자·생산자단체와 함께 올바른 원산지 표시 캠페인을 실시하고, 지자체와 산림청, 관세청 등과 합동 단속을 진행해 소비자 신뢰 확보에 나섰다.

경북농관원 관계자는 “김치류의 원산지 표시 위반이 여전히 높게 나타난 만큼, 본격적인 김장 시즌을 대비해 배추·양념류를 집중 점검할 예정이며, 염소·오리 등 수입 축산물에 대해서도 상시 단속 체계를 강화하겠다”고 말했다.

The Gyeongbuk Branch of the National Agricultural Products Quality Management Service (Director Seo Jun-han, hereinafter referred to as the Gyeongbuk Agricultural Products Quality Management Service) announced that it conducted a comprehensive inspection of country of origin labeling on gifts and ceremonial goods for 18 days from September 15th to October 2nd in preparation for the Chuseok holiday, and caught 49 vendors.

Major violations included 15 cases of kimchi, 10 cases of tofu, three cases of pork, three cases of chicken, and two cases of goat.

Special judicial police and honorary inspectors were deployed for this inspection, targeting 2,006 businesses, including gift and ceremonial goods manufacturers and distributors, mail-order businesses, and agricultural and livestock product wholesalers and retailers. The inspection focused on cases of misrepresenting imported products as domestic products or misrepresenting domestic products as regional specialties.

Among the businesses caught, 20 companies with false labeling will be criminally prosecuted and forwarded to the prosecution after an internal investigation. A total of 5.25 million won in fines were imposed on 29 companies for failing to label their products.

During the inspection period, the Gyeongbuk Agricultural Research and Development Institute (GRIDI) conducted a campaign to ensure proper country of origin labeling in collaboration with consumer and producer groups at traditional markets and other locations. They also conducted joint inspections with local governments, the Korea Forest Service, and the Korea Customs Service to secure consumer trust.

A Gyeongbuk Agricultural Research and Development Institute official stated, "Since violations of country of origin labeling for kimchi products remain high, we plan to focus on inspecting cabbage and seasonings in preparation for the peak kimchi-making season. We will also strengthen our ongoing crackdown on imported livestock products such as goat and duck."
