【브레이크뉴스 포항】박영재 기자=러시아 중세사 연구의 세계적 석학으로 손꼽히는 쿠리우자와 다케오(栗生澤 猛夫·81) 일본 홋카이도대 명예교수가 포항을 찾아 시민들과 인문학적 대화를 나눈다.

뉴스포레가 주최하고 ㈜라인세븐이 후원하는 이번 특강은 ‘환동해 이웃 포항에서 러시아-우크라이나를 생각한다’를 주제로, 오는 7일 오후 3시 포항시립 포은중앙도서관에서 열린다. 인문학과 역사에 관심 있는 시민, 교수, 대학생 등이 함께할 예정이다.

쿠리우자와 교수는 지난 60여 년간 러시아 중세·근세사 연구에 헌신해온 일본의 대표적 러시아사 학자다. 베를린자유대학교 동유럽연구소 연구원, 오타루 상과대학 교수, 홋카이도대 문학부 학장 등을 역임하며 동유럽사 연구의 국제적 권위를 확립했다.

그의 대표 저서인 ‘타타르의 멍에, 러시아사에서 본 몽골 지배 연구’(도쿄대 출판회), ‘보리스 고두노프와 가짜 드미트리, 동란기의 러시아’(야마카와 출판사)는 러시아 전제 체제의 뿌리를 탐구한 고전으로 평가받는다. 국내에서도 ‘러시아 원초연대기를 읽다’(성문사, 2015), ‘이반 뇌제’(성문사, 1994) 등 다수의 저작이 번역·출간되어 학문적 영향력을 넓혀왔다.

이번 포항 강연에서 쿠리우자와 교수는 자신의 학문 여정과 함께 ▲우크라이나·러시아 전쟁의 역사적 맥락 ▲이반 뇌제와 권력, 그리고 영화감독 에이젠슈테인의 역사인식 ▲‘타타르의 멍에’가 남긴 정치문화적 유산 등을 풀어낼 예정이다. 일본의 러시아 연구 전통과 현대 동북아 정세를 연결하는 시도도 담길 전망이다.

초청을 주도한 김민섭 ㈜라인세븐 대표는 “이번 강연이 일본과 러시아, 한국을 잇는 학문적 대화의 장이 되길 바란다”며 “환동해 시대를 사는 포항이 평화와 인문학의 교차점으로 자리 잡는 계기가 되길 기대한다”고 말했다.

이번 특강은 별도의 신청 없이 선착순으로 입장할 수 있으며, 강연 후에는 시민들과의 질의응답 시간도 마련된다.

【Break News Pohang】Reporter Park Young-jae = Takeo Kuriuzawa (栗生澤 猛夫, 81), a world-renowned scholar of Russian medieval history and professor emeritus at Hokkaido University in Japan, will visit Pohang to engage in a humanistic dialogue with the public.

Hosted by News Foret and sponsored by Line Seven Co., Ltd., this special lecture, titled "Thinking about Russia and Ukraine in Pohang, Our East Sea Rim Neighbor," will be held at 3:00 PM on the 7th at the Pohang City Poeun Central Library. Citizens, professors, and university students interested in the humanities and history are expected to attend.

Professor Kuriuzawa is a leading Japanese scholar of Russian history who has dedicated over 60 years to the study of medieval and modern Russian history. He has established an international reputation for Eastern European history, having served as a researcher at the Institute of Eastern European Studies at the Free University of Berlin, a professor at Otaru University of Commerce, and Dean of the Faculty of Letters at Hokkaido University.

His representative works, "The Tatar Yoke: A Study of Mongol Rule in Russian History" (University of Tokyo Press) and "Boris Godunov and False Dmitry, Russia in the Time of Troubles" (Yamakawa Press), are considered classics exploring the roots of Russian autocracy. In Korea, numerous of his works, including "Reading the Russian Primordial Chronicles" (Seongmunsa, 2015) and "Ivan the Terrible" (Seongmunsa, 1994), have been translated and published, broadening his academic influence.

In this Pohang lecture, Professor Kuriuzawa will explore his own academic journey, addressing topics such as the historical context of the Russo-Ukrainian War, Ivan the Terrible and power, and film director Eisenstein's historical perspective, and the political and cultural legacy of "The Tatar Yoke." He will also attempt to connect Japan's tradition of Russian studies with contemporary Northeast Asian politics.

Kim Min-seop, CEO of Line Seven, who spearheaded the invitation, said, "I hope this lecture will serve as a forum for academic dialogue connecting Japan, Russia, and Korea. I also hope it will serve as an opportunity for Pohang, living in the East Sea Rim era, to establish itself as a crossroads of peace and the humanities."

This special lecture is open to the public on a first-come, first-served basis, and no separate registration is required. A Q&A session will follow the lecture.
