【브레이크뉴스 경주】이성현 기자=2025년 APEC 정상회의를 성공적으로 치른 경주가 세계 경제 협력의 거점 도시로 다시 주목받고 있다. 경상북도와 경주시, 한국아태경제협회는 27일부터 29일까지 사흘간 서울과 경주 일원에서 ‘포스트 APEC 2025 경상북도 투자대회’와 ‘글로벌 비전 서밋(Global Vision Summit 2025, GVS 2025)’을 개최한다.

이번 행사에는 다이빙 주한 중국대사와 파울 두를로스 주한 페루대사, LS그룹 구자열 회장을 비롯해 20개국 이상 정부 관계자, 외교 사절단, 글로벌 기업 대표, 학계 석학 등 국제 인사들이 대거 참석했다. 참석자들은 각국의 투자 환경을 공유하고 정책·기술·시장 분야 협력 확대 방안을 논의한다.

행사는 지난해 열린 경주 APEC 정상회의의 후속 프로그램으로, APEC에서 제시된 아시아·태평양 지역 협력 의제를 구체화하고 지속 가능한 국제 협력 구조를 구축하기 위한 ‘포스트 APEC 플랫폼’으로 추진된다.

올해 서밋의 주제는 ‘글로벌 통상의 재연결’로, 복합 위기 시대 속 국제사회의 회복력 강화와 연결성 재구축 전략을 모색한다. 분야별 토론은 27일 AI·바이오헬스·문화창조산업, 28일 공급망 회복·MICE 산업 등 5대 핵심 분야를 중심으로 진행된다.

행사 첫날 서울 인터컨티넨탈 파르나스에서는 경상북도 투자유치 선포식이 열렸다. 이철우 경상북도지사와 도내 22개 기초자치단체장이 참석한 가운데 경상북도와 경주시, 구미시가 지역 산업 역량을 소개하고 유망 기업인 무지개연구소·산동금속공업 등이 해외 투자자들과 비전을 공유했다.

경상북도는 행사에서 실질적 성과도 확보했다. 한화투자증권과 1천억 원 규모 지역 기업 지원 펀드 조성 협약을 체결했으며, 구미시와 함께 구미국가산단 내 포포인츠바이쉐라톤 호텔 건립을 위한 996억 원 투자 협약도 성사시켰다.

둘째 날 행사에서는 포항시·칠곡군 등 지방정부와 지역 기업들이 산업 생태계를 소개하고 에너지 및 자동차 부품 분야 협력 사례를 발표한다. 이어 경북도와 경주시는 중국MICE협회·한국MICE협회와 관광객 유치를 위한 업무협약을 체결하고, 한국의료관광진흥협회와 외국인 의료관광 기반 구축 협력에 나선다. 또한 한국경영혁신중소기업협회(메인비즈협회)와도 상호 협력 체계를 구축한다.

이철우 경상북도지사는 “이번 투자대회는 APEC이 남긴 외교 자산을 경제 성과로 연결하는 중요한 계기가 될 것”이라며 “경북을 글로벌 미래 산업 중심지이자 국제 협력의 허브로 성장시키겠다”고 밝혔다.

APEC Follow-up International Event, "GVS 2025," Opens… Gyeongju Takes a New Leap as a Platform for Global Cooperation

Gyeongju, which successfully hosted the 2025 APEC Summit, is once again gaining attention as a hub for global economic cooperation. Gyeongsangbuk-do Province, Gyeongju City, and the Korea Asia-Pacific Economic Association will host the "Post-APEC 2025 Gyeongsangbuk-do Investment Conference" and the "Global Vision Summit 2025 (GVS 2025)" in Seoul and Gyeongju from the 27th to the 29th.

The event was attended by a large number of international figures, including Chinese Ambassador to Korea Diving, Peruvian Ambassador to Korea Paul Durlos, and LS Group Chairman Koo Ja-yeol, as well as government officials, diplomatic delegations, global corporate representatives, and academics from over 20 countries. Participants will share their respective investment environments and discuss ways to expand cooperation in policy, technology, and market areas.

This event, a follow-up to last year's Gyeongju APEC Summit, will serve as a "post-APEC platform" to concretize the Asia-Pacific regional cooperation agenda presented at APEC and establish a sustainable international cooperation structure.

The theme of this year's summit is "Reconnecting Global Trade," exploring strategies to strengthen the international community's resilience and rebuild connectivity in the face of complex crises. Sectoral discussions will focus on five key areas: AI, biohealth, and the cultural and creative industries on the 27th, and supply chain recovery and the MICE industry on the 28th.

On the first day of the event, a ceremony to promote investment in Gyeongsangbuk-do was held at the Seoul InterContinental Parnas. Gyeongsangbuk-do Governor Lee Cheol-woo and the mayors of 22 local governments in the province attended. Gyeongsangbuk-do, Gyeongju City, and Gumi City presented their regional industrial capabilities, and promising companies such as Rainbow Research Institute and Sandong Metal Industry shared their visions with international investors.

Gyeongsangbuk-do also achieved tangible results from the event. The event signed a KRW 100 billion agreement with Hanwha Investment & Securities to establish a local business support fund and secured a KRW 99.6 billion investment agreement with Gumi City for the construction of the Four Points by Sheraton Hotel in the Gumi National Industrial Complex.

On the second day, local governments, including Pohang City and Chilgok County, and local companies will introduce the industrial ecosystem and present examples of cooperation in the energy and automotive parts sectors. Gyeongsangbuk-do Province and Gyeongju City will also sign business agreements with the China MICE Association and the Korea MICE Association to attract tourists and collaborate with the Korea Medical Tourism Promotion Association to build a foundation for international medical tourism. They will also establish a cooperative system with the Korea Association of Innovation SMEs (Mainbiz Association).

Gyeongsangbuk-do Governor Lee Cheol-woo stated, "This investment competition will serve as a crucial opportunity to translate the diplomatic assets of APEC into economic achievements. We will develop Gyeongsangbuk-do into a global future industrial hub and a hub for international cooperation."
