【브레이크뉴스 대구】진예솔 기자=대구남산초등학교가 90년 만에 완전히 새로운 모습으로 문을 열었다. 

대구동부교육지원청은 1일 오후 3시, 남산초 남산마루에서 ‘그린스마트스쿨 개축사업’의 준공식을 연다. 사업은 지난 9월 마무리됐다.

이날 준공식에는 강은희 대구시교육감, 김의주 동부교육지원청 교육장, 남산초 동창회장, 고영길 학교운영위원장 등이 자리해 남산초의 새 출발을 함께 축하한다.

이번 개축에는 총 161억 원이 투입됐다. 오랜 역사의 본관동을 헐고 학생 안전과 미래 교육환경을 반영한 새 건물을 올렸다. 새 건물은 지상 4층 규모로, 연면적은 5,039㎡에 이른다.

일반 교실 외에도 도서관, 쉼&갤러리, 컴퓨터실, 음악실, 미술실, 교사연구실 등 다양한 교육공간이 한층 새로워졌다. 시원한 채광과 넓은 시야가 확보된 개방형 학습 공간, 층별 휴게 공간, 외부와 연결되는 학습환경으로 학생 중심의 공간을 마련했다.

특히 저학년 교실과 외부 녹지를 연결하는 전면 채광창, 도서관과 연계된 1층 야외 놀이 데크, 3층 야외 데크 등 자연친화적 요소가 대폭 강화됐다. 학생들이 자유롭게 뛰어놀 수 있는 놀이터와 언덕은 물론, 지역 주민들도 활용할 수 있는 작은 공원과 산책로도 새롭게 조성했다.

장윤옥 남산초 교장은 “역사와 자연을 품은 남산의 한가운데서 아이들이 더 큰 꿈을 펼칠 수 있는 공간이 완성됐다”며, “교육가족 모두의 의견을 모아 만든 만큼 앞으로도 학생들과 함께 아름답게 채워갈 계획”이라고 밝혔다.

강은희 교육감은 “대구남산초는 자연과 지역 환경을 반영한 미래 학교의 새로운 모델”이라며 “이번 개축을 계기로 학생 안전은 물론, 미래역량을 키울 수 있는 교육의 중심지가 되길 기대한다”고 말했다.
