【브레이크뉴스 포항】박영재 기자=이강덕 포항시장이 미래 신산업 육성과 도시 경쟁력 강화를 위한 선제적 대응을 강조했다. 포항시는 5일 시청 대회의실에서 열린 12월 확대간부회의에서 국제 협력 확대와 주요 시정 현안을 논의했다고 밝혔다.

이날 회의에서는 △마이스산업과의 ‘유럽·브라질 방문 성과 및 국제회의 유치 현황’ △관광산업과의 ‘포항-헝가리 글로벌 협력 강화’ 관련 국외 출장 결과 등이 보고됐다. 이어 미래 성장 전략과 내년도 시정 방향에 대한 심의가 진행됐다.

이 시장은 최근 추진된 국제 협력 행보와 관련해 “유엔기후변화협약 당사국총회(COP) 및 유럽·브라질 주요 국제기구 방문을 계기로 산업 기반형 마이스(MICE) 전략을 구체화해야 한다”며 “POEX 개관에 맞춰 글로벌 컨벤션 도시로 도약할 수 있도록 해외 컨벤션 기관과 협력을 확대하라”고 지시했다.

또한, 헝가리 데브레첸시와 체결한 배터리 산업 협력 의향서를 언급하며 “실질적인 공동 사업을 발굴해 포항이 글로벌 배터리 허브 도시로 자리매김하도록 추진력을 높여야 한다”고 강조했다.

시는 이날 회의에서 2026년도 국가투자예산 확보 현황을 공유하고, 2027년도 국비 확보 목표와 전략을 논의했다. 특히 대형 국비사업 발굴과 미래 성장동력 기반 마련에 조직 역량을 집중하기로 했다.

이 시장은 현재 추진 중인 시립박물관과 시립미술관 제2관 건립과 관련해 “두 시설은 포항의 정체성을 보여 줄 핵심 문화 인프라가 되어야 한다”며 “타 도시와 차별화된 자연·역사·문화를 담아 시민이 일상에서 향유할 수 있는 스마트 복합문화공간으로 조성하라”고 당부했다.

아울러 포항시는 건조한 겨울철 산불 위험과 지속되는 한파에 대비해 재난 대응 체계를 강화하고, 취약계층 보호 대책을 확대할 계획이다.

이강덕 시장은 “포항의 미래 경쟁력을 높이기 위해 행정 역량을 총동원하고 부서 간 협업을 강화해야 한다”며 “시민이 체감할 수 있는 변화와 성과를 만드는 데 최선을 다해달라”고 말했다.
