【브레이크뉴스 안동】이성현 기자=안동시는 지난 4일 서울 포스트타워에서 성평등가족부가 주최한 ‘2025년 인구감소지역 청소년성장지원사업’ 우수지역 시상식에서 한국청소년정책연구원장상을 수상했다고 9일 밝혔다.

이번 사업은 2024년 성평등가족부 공모를 통해 추진된 국가 사업으로, 전국 11개 지방자치단체가 참여했다.

안동시는 파트너 기관인 안동청소년문화센터와 함께 청소년이 지역에 정착하고 성장할 수 있는 생태계를 만드는 데 주력해 왔다. 특히 청소년문화센터 1층 유휴공간을 리모델링해 만든 청소년 자유공간 ‘별솔카페’가 대표적 성과로 꼽혔다. 

이 공간은 청소년이 쉬고 소통하는 커뮤니티 공간일 뿐 아니라 바리스타 자격증을 취득한 청소년들이 직접 운영하며 자율성과 참여 경험을 확대하는 프로그램으로 높은 평가를 받았다.

도시-지역 간 청소년 교류 프로그램도 우수사례로 이름을 올렸다. 안동청소년문화센터와 서울 가재울청소년메타센터가 공동 운영한 ‘안동–서울 교류캠프(안동에 캠프온나)’는 전통문화 체험, 지역 탐방, 공동 프로젝트 등을 기반으로 청소년 정서 발달과 지역 간 인식 차이를 좁히는 데 기여했다는 평가를 받았다.

이 밖에도 지역 특성을 반영한 문화·진로·미디어 교육 프로그램이 운영되며 청소년의 자기주도성 강화와 지역 정체성 함양에 기여했다는 점이 심사에 반영됐다.

안동시는 이번 수상을 계기로 청소년 자유공간 확충, 지역·도시 연계 활동 확대, 청소년 주도 프로그램 강화 등 ‘안동형 청소년 성장모델’ 정착에 속도를 낸다는 계획이다.

김재열 안동청소년문화센터 관장은 “청소년이 쉼, 활동, 관계를 동시에 경험할 수 있는 공간과 기회를 만드는 것이 우리의 역할”이라며 “앞으로도 지역 청소년이 자부심을 갖고 성장할 수 있도록 다양한 프로그램을 이어가겠다”고 말했다.

안동시 관계자는 “청소년이 머무르고 싶은 도시를 만드는 일은 곧 안동의 미래를 준비하는 일”이라며 “청소년 성장 기반 구축과 지역정착 지원을 지속해 나가겠다”고 밝혔다.

Andong City Selected as an Outstanding Area for the National Youth Growth Support Project

Andong City announced on the 9th that it received the Korea Youth Policy Institute Director's Award at the "2025 Youth Growth Support Project for Population Declining Areas" awards ceremony held on the 4th at the Seoul Post Tower, hosted by the Ministry of Gender Equality and Family.

This project, a national initiative launched through a 2024 Ministry of Gender Equality and Family competition, involved 11 local governments nationwide.

Andong City, together with its partner organization, the Andong Youth Cultural Center, has focused on creating an ecosystem where youth can settle and grow in the community. A notable achievement was the "Byeolsol Café," a youth-friendly space created by remodeling an unused space on the first floor of the Youth Cultural Center.

This space not only serves as a community space for youth to relax and connect, but also receives high praise for its programs, run by certified baristas, which foster autonomy and participation.

City-region youth exchange programs were also recognized as excellent examples. The "Andong-Seoul Exchange Camp (Andong-e Camp Onna)" jointly operated by the Andong Youth Cultural Center and the Seoul Gajaeul Youth Meta Center was recognized for contributing to youth emotional development and bridging regional gaps through traditional cultural experiences, local tours, and joint projects.

Furthermore, the evaluation also noted that the program's cultural, career, and media education programs, reflecting regional characteristics, fostered youth self-direction and fostered regional identity.

Andong City plans to capitalize on this award by accelerating the establishment of the "Andong-style Youth Growth Model" by expanding youth free spaces, expanding regional and city-wide collaborations, and strengthening youth-led programs.

Kim Jae-yeol, Director of the Andong Youth Cultural Center, stated, "Our role is to create spaces and opportunities where youth can experience rest, activity, and connection simultaneously. We will continue to offer diverse programs to help local youth grow with pride."

An Andong city official said, “Creating a city where young people want to stay is preparing for Andong’s future,” and added, “We will continue to build a foundation for youth growth and support their settlement in the region.”
