이날 간담회에는 포항 남·북부경찰서와 소방서, 한국전력공사, 한국전기안전공사, KT, 포항문화재단 등 주요 유관기관 관계자들이 참석해 행사 기간 대규모 인파 운집에 대비한 안전 관리 방안과 기관 간 협력 체계를 심도 있게 논의했다.

참석자들은 호미곶 해맞이광장을 비롯해 이가리 닻 전망대, 선돌곶 전망대 등 주요 해안가 일출 명소에 인파가 집중될 것으로 보고, 현장 중심의 사고 예방 대책과 대응 체계를 중점적으로 점검했다.

포항시는 교통 혼잡 완화와 안전 확보를 위해 행사장 주변과 주요 교차로에 총 649명의 인력을 배치할 계획이다. 경찰과 협력해 불법 주·정차와 노점상 단속을 강화하고, 소방 당국은 비상 대응 차량과 순찰대를 상시 운영해 사고 발생 시 신속한 구조 체계를 가동한다.

아울러 건조한 겨울철을 고려해 산불 예방 대책도 강화한다. 구룡포 말봉재와 대송 운제산 등 산림 인접 지역을 중심으로 산불감시원 283명과 전문예방진화대 55명을 전진 배치하고, 진화 헬기 출동 태세를 유지해 만일의 사태에 대비한다.

특히 올해는 방문객 안전과 편의 증진을 위해 한파 대응을 위한 TFS 텐트 등 실내 공간을 전년보다 대폭 확대하고, 300면 규모의 임시주차장을 추가 확보하는 등 현장 여건을 개선했다. 위험도가 높은 해안가 구간에는 안전펜스를 설치하고 안전 인력을 집중 배치해 사고를 사전에 차단할 방침이다.

이강덕 포항시장은 “신년을 맞아 일출 명소에 많은 인파가 몰릴 것으로 예상되는 만큼 철저한 사전 대비가 무엇보다 중요하다”며 “방문객들이 안전하고 희망찬 새해를 맞이할 수 있도록 유관기관이 모든 역량을 모아 안전 관리에 만전을 기해달라”고 당부했다.

한편, 제28회 호미곶 한민족 해맞이축전은 오는 12월 31일부터 2026년 1월 1일까지 이틀간 호미곶 해맞이광장 일원에서 열린다. 대동한마당과 호미곶 범굿, 신년 일출 퍼포먼스 등 다양한 프로그램이 마련돼 전국 각지에서 방문객이 찾을 것으로 기대된다.

With diverse programs including the Daedong Hanmadang, Homigot Beomgut, and the New Year's sunrise performance, the festival is expected to attract visitors from all over the country.
