포항시는 6일 이강덕 시장 주재로 시청 대회의실에서 확대간부회의를 개최하고, 지난해 주요 시정 성과를 점검하는 한편 올해 핵심 사업 추진 계획과 주요 현안에 대해 논의했다.

이날 회의는 국별로 지난해 추진 성과와 올해 중점 추진 사업을 보고한 뒤, 주요 현안에 대한 토론을 이어가는 방식으로 진행됐다. 이를 통해 올 한 해 역점을 둘 사업들의 추진 방향과 실행 계획을 점검하고 부서 간 협업 방안을 모색했다.

이강덕 시장은 통합돌봄 정책과 관련해 “행정 편의가 아닌 시민이 실제로 서비스를 이용하는 입장에서 정책을 설계하고 추진해 달라”고 주문했다. 분산에너지특화지역 최종 선정과 관련해서는 “후속 절차에 차질이 없도록 만전을 기해 달라”며 에너지 분야 정책 추진에 속도를 낼 것을 당부했다.

의과대학 설립과 관련해서는 포항의 미래 성장 전략과 연계된 중요성을 강조했다. 이 시장은 “포항은 방사광가속기와 바이오 특화단지, 향후 조성될 글로벌 AI 데이터센터 등 탄탄한 연구·산업 인프라를 갖춘 도시”라며 “포스텍 의과대학 설립은 긴 호흡을 가지고 반드시 이뤄내야 할 과제”라고 밝혔다.

아울러 추모공원 조성 등 주요 현안과 역점 사업에 대해서도 차질 없는 추진을 주문하며 ▲AI·바이오 등 첨단 신산업 육성 ▲신재생에너지 생산 기반 마련 ▲관광·마이스(MICE) 산업 발전 ▲지역 상권 회복 ▲복지·안전망 강화 등을 핵심 과제로 제시했다. 이를 통해 지속가능한 환동해 중심 도시로 도약하기 위한 방안을 집중 논의했다.

또한 시민 안전을 강조하며 겨울철 산불 예방 대책을 철저히 추진하고, 우수기를 대비해 하수도와 배수로 준설을 선제적으로 실시하는 등 재해 예방 준비에도 각별한 주의를 기울여 줄 것을 당부했다.

이강덕 포항시장은 “올해 포항시의 시정 화두인 위민충정(爲民忠政)에 걸맞게 모든 공직자가 오직 시민을 위해 맡은 바 업무에 임해 달라”며 “미래 세대를 위한 세계 속의 포항을 만들어 가는 데 행정 역량을 집중해 달라”고 강조했다.

He also emphasized citizen safety, urged thorough implementation of winter wildfire prevention measures, and urged special attention to disaster prevention preparations, including proactively dredging sewers and drains in preparation for the rainy season.

Pohang Mayor Lee Kang-deok emphasized, "In line with Pohang's administrative motto this year, 'Government for the People' (Wiminchungjeong), I urge all public officials to dedicate themselves solely to the citizens."
