이날 방문은 새해 인사를 겸해 시민과 현장 관계자들의 목소리를 직접 듣기 위해 마련됐다. 의원들은 송도수협활어위판장과 환경관리원복지회관, 노인복지회관, 선린애육원, 대한노인회 포항시지회를 차례로 찾았다.
의원들은 새벽 송도수협활어위판장에서 어획량과 운영 실태를 살피고, 수협 직원과 경매인, 중·도매인들을 격려하며 어업인과 상인들의 애로사항을 청취했다. 이어 환경관리원복지회관을 방문해 환경관리원들의 노고에 감사를 전했다.
또 노인복지회관과 선린애육원, 대한노인회 포항시지회를 방문해 복지시설 운영 현황을 점검하고, 아동과 노인 등 취약계층 복지와 관련한 현장의 의견을 들었다.
김일만 의장은 “민생 현장에서 시민들의 목소리를 들을 때 의회가 나아가야 할 방향이 더욱 분명해진다”며 “현장에서 청취한 의견을 의정활동에 적극 반영해 시민의 삶의 질 향상에 힘쓰겠다”고 말했다.
