이들 기업은 대구대학교(총장 박순진)가 위탁 운영하는 영천청년창업지원센터에 입주한 청년 창업팀으로, 센터에는 이들을 포함해 지난해 말 기준 총 13개 창업팀이 입주해 사업화와 성장에 도전하고 있다.
지난 2024년 5월 문을 연 영천청년창업지원센터는 개소 20개월여 만에 지역 창업생태계의 핵심 거점으로 빠르게 자리 잡았다. 센터는 개소 1년 차 평가에서 입주기업 평균 매출 58.6% 증가, 신규 고용 10명 창출, 특허 등 지식재산권 14건 확보라는 의미 있는 성과를 거두며 성장 가능성을 입증했다.
입주 기업들은 ▲입주공간 무상 제공 ▲사업비 지원 ▲성장 단계별 프로그램 ▲전문가 멘토링 등 창업 전주기에 걸친 종합적인 지원을 받고 있다. 이러한 체계적인 지원을 바탕으로 크라우드 펀딩과 기술보증기금 보증을 통한 자금 조달 성과가 이어졌으며, 실제 투자 유치로 연결된 기업도 등장해 눈길을 끌고 있다.
센터 운영 기관인 대구대학교 창업지원단은 ‘창업중심대학 지원사업’, ‘RISE(지역혁신중심 대학지원체계) 사업’ 등 대형 국책사업을 센터와 연계해 예산과 프로그램을 적극 지원하고 있다. 그 결과 2025년 한 해 동안 창업중심대학 지원사업 등 주요 정부 지원사업에 총 8개 영천 기업이 선정되며 지역 기업의 경쟁력을 전국 무대에서 입증했다.
아울러 영천청년창업지원센터는 기업 성장 지원을 넘어 창업문화 확산에도 힘을 쏟고 있다. 지난해 9월에는 영천청년페스티벌과 연계해 ‘청년창업문화의 날’을 운영하고, 청년창업존을 조성해 시민과 청년이 함께하는 창업 체험의 장을 마련했다. 전문가 멘토링, 관광창업 아이디어 경진대회, 문화·디지털 콘텐츠 존, 미니콘서트 등 다양한 프로그램을 통해 창업을 일상 속 문화로 확장하고 있다.

Opened in May 2024, the Yeongcheon Youth Entrepreneurship Support Center has quickly established itself as a key hub in the local startup ecosystem in just 20 months. In its first year, the center demonstrated significant growth potential, achieving significant results: an average 58.6% increase in sales for resident companies, the creation of 10 new jobs, and the acquisition of 14 intellectual property rights, including patents.
